Yes if Chelsea lose on the final day and we win we'd be 6th. It's unlikely but mathematically possible.
Chelsea have 6th in the bag.. they're one of the best sides in the league on form now. They'll be a force again from now on...hoping for City and Chelsea to get points deductions is a waste of time as well I think.
I don't disagree that they're one of the form teams, and 6th is likely theirs, but it's not impossible for it to be ours.
Let’s just see what happens. Give it our best shot and then if we finish 6th then good. 7th then ok. 8th then we have a problem.
I'm actually fine with 8th..one game a week will give is an advantage in other ways. This is the thing people don't even see the positives I do sometimes.
Think I predicted 8th place pre season. It was obvious we way over achieved last season, plus we had CL games to factor in this season. I think we are now part of a new 'big 8' along with Villa.
I can see that side of it yes. But I think we lose Bruno and can’t get in better players so it’s basically setting us back a year.
Bruno will not stay just because we're in the conference anyway. He'll either decide to day thinking the club will progess or he will figure out that nothing significant will happen here until he's about 37 years old and retired.
Remind me where we were when we signed Bruno? Anyway, I doubt 7th and conference league would result in much of an increase in the number of quality players willing to join, over what we would have for an 8th placed finish. CC is bang on the money with these two points - 1. Hope for 7th as competing in the conference league would give us our best hope of silverware in the immediate future. 2. Don't despair and wail at 8th as one game weeks should let our squad play the high intensity way of last season, next season and hopefully reap the rewards of that again. Whatever happens, we have owners now who will keep on pushing and pushing forwards. Nothing to be crying about.
I knew someone would say that. And the answer is now because his market value and desirability have gone through the roof because he’s developed to an incredible footballer. Also his career has progressed and he’s at the stage and age in his career that if a top club comes along. He has a choice. Stay at Newcastle with no champions league football. Or go and play for an absolutely massive club like Real Madrid. No brainer mate.
Pushing forward. So like going from 4th and champions league football. To 8th and no champions league football. Yes that’s pushing forwards mate. And after a spend of 440m euros. And all our players have aged another 2.5 years for us to move backwards to 8th from 4th. Yup pushing forward.
