Makes no difference to us really. They will start with 11 players on the field whatever. At the time I thought it was the wrong decision to send him off, but the more I watch it, according to the rules it was a red card. “Reckless” means that the player has acted with complete disregard to the danger to, or consequences for, his opponent. (A player who plays in a reckless manner must be cautioned) “Using excessive force” means that the player has far exceeded the necessary use of force and is in danger of injuring his opponent. (A player who uses excessive force must be sent off) The speed or the intensity of the challenge. Is the player in control of his actions, or is he “off the ground” and out of control when he makes the challenge? Watch it again and tell me those rules don't apply....... If he had mis-timed that tackle he could easily have broken Conor's ankle/leg. I know that didn't happen, but according to those rules above it's a sending off. Just because you didn't make contact, doesn't mean it's not dangerous.
