Brentford v Swansea City Competition - Sky Bet Championship, Play-Off Semi-Final, 2nd Leg Venue - Griffin Park Date - 29 July 2020 Kick off - 19.45 Following their hard fought 1-0 first leg win over the Bookies’ promotion favourites, Steve Cooper’s Swansea squad find themselves just 90 minutes away from a second Championship Play-Off Final. In the first leg, Brentford were the first to settle although the Swans came nearest to scoring in the opening 45 minutes when an Andre Ayew header hit the post, and that led to a goal line melee which saw Rhian Brewster come close up breaking the deadlock. After the break, the Swans were awarded a penalty for a foul on Brewster, but Ayew saw his effort well saved by David Raya. Brentford had Rico Henry dismissed for a foul on Connor Roberts - a decision that caused Thomas Frank to declare after the match that he was 100% confident that Rico would be cleared to play in the second leg. With time running out, Andre Ayew atoned for his penalty miss by scoring a fantastic goal following some neat touches from Gallagher and Fulton. Turning to Wednesday, given that Thomas Frank has declared publicly that he is 100% confident that Brentford will triumph and will reach Wembley, I’m wondering whether it’s worth the Swans turning up for what will be the final competitive game at Griffin Park...... But as Jimmy Greaves would say ‘It’s a funny old game’ and I have a sneaky feeling that the Swans will win 2-1 on the night
They get the 1st goal but Brewster equalises on the stroke of half time. We hold out for a 1-1draw and Bob’s your mothers brother
I’m a bit nervous on this one, I wasn’t yesterday but now we have the advantage I’m in a quandary. I’d settle for a draw, but think we could just sneak a win. So going for an optimistic 2-1 Swans win.
Their manager is an obnoxious oik....the EFL should not only uphold the red card which was dangerous play but ban the oik as well for what he has intimated about the match official and the money at stake. Anyway we win by 2 clear goals on the night
terrible non performance, after watching them blowing out of their arses for the second half I thought I was watching Cardiff Dragons rather than a professional football club
