If he could develop a sense of arrogance to match his unique qualities he would be a beast. It's all about self-doubt and inner belief with Darwin - once he does things like yesterday a few times more he'll have the confidence in the bank to not worry about missing, just like Mo. And look at Mo - he misses loads. That shank yesterday was embarrassing. But it doesn't stop him trying again because his self-belief is justifiably huge. Arrogant. Once Nunez gets to that tipping point.... We just need to believe in him.
As I say, a true sign of arrogance and self-confidence. He has enough in the bank to know how good he is. Darwin will get there too.
Still think he should have just rolled it to the side of the keeper. That is one that should be put away 100 times out of 100 and if he tries to lob the keeper like that when standing tall he isn’t going to score it 100 times. Worked out well yesterday but an absolute stone call finisher just calms puts it to the side. Now if keeper starts going down early the chip is fine.
I think one of the reasons that we all love him is his indomitable enthusiasm and willingness to just keep on trying until he gets it right. "Missed that chance, gizzanother" Part of that willingness stems from the fact that the crowd are behind him even when he misses. A feedback loop has developed between him and the fans.
I thought he should have put Jota in at the time, but I haven't seen it again and I'm not sure Jota held his run - he might have gone offside. It's definitely one of those things that make you look a tit when it goes wrong, but it didn't.
Nah was no need to pass. Keeper stood up so long just had to roll it into corner imo. But then I’m no pro forward earning 100k a week!
I'd say you could go trhough the keepers legs either but the lob caught the keeper out as well. there was literally nothing he could do.
The thing that's impressed me most is his change of attitude. Obviously Klopp has told him what's acceptable in terms of retaliation. He's trying really hard to put that energy into his football rather than his reactions.
Yeah this has been great. Given that headbutt at the beginning of his career with us, we were all thinking he'll be a target and will end up walking a few times a season because of it. He has channelled it brilliantly.
It's a good lesson for life in general and I'm sure Klopp will have said similar - channel your passion and energy where you can do most good.
