gudmundson was good. he had a good game on the right so i think it was right to leave wilson out. BUT, cousins on the left did not work too well. he did his best and played well, but it isnt his position. i think he should start in the middle and jacko (seeing as he runs down the wing and all..) go out on the left and cousins in the middle, or gudmundon on the left with wilson on the right with jacko on the bench. tucudean played ok - a 6/10. he missed a sitter, but dont we all? if it had been this new guy we're supposed to be after he'd have scored.
Gudmundson is the most technically gifted player we've had in years. His range of passing was brilliant, but we need to get him on the ball more. The midfield was also a bit disjointed in the sense he seemed to always be a few yards ahead of his defensive/slow partners.
All in all it sounds promising then. I'm still convinced that there are comfortably 3 teams worst than us and that in actual fact there are probably quite a few more than that. The main thing Peeters needs to affect is will be Home form - which has been awful for the last two seasons. As I think I've said before in other threads I am an optimist; and I'm still excited by what this season is gonna throw up!
I'd go...: Wilson Buyens Cousins Gudmundson Across the middle of the park. For me it was obvious that Jacko's legs went a couple of years ago. I'd like to see some continuity up top so a partnership between the two new boys has an opportunity to flourish. 90 mins playing alongside one another in the cup can only be a good thing surely. After all we alteady know Church aint good enough, so we might as well find out about the new lads sooner rather than later. At least that way we give ourselves the opportunity to bring someone in before the window slams shut, should it be glaringly obvious that they aint up to scratch.
I'm more optimistic of the vetokele/harriott partnership than having tuducen. Ideally, we get a better striker in before the end if August. I was pleasantly surprised by vetokele though.
I'm all for trying out new striking partnerships in the league cup, but a year ago we saw a classy performance from Church in the Oxford game - so let's not fall into the trap of believing our saviour has arrived when he bags a brace against Colly United.
Just got round to watching the football league show - maybe off topic, but was anyone else impressed by the Secret Footballer.. I mean, Dave Kitson as a pundit? Even Manish seemed to give us a bit of praise.
I put on twitter on Saturday night that I'd love Kitson to be on it all season, especially if he keeps Claridge out of it
