Spot on-can’t blame DH he was right to take it when offered.
But it is a wrong appointment and SL/JL/ have to take that on the chin.
How a second in command who was part of the original problem was going to take the club forward is beyond belief.
We have a fantastic stadium with a very average team to play in it.
Would you run Hargreaves Lansdown with a non experienced management team.
Investors would move their funds in their droves.

It beggars belief that a successful businessman like Steve Lansdown would turn down the criteria and policies that made him a top earner in his day job. Running a football club is no piece of cake but surely if you invest money in to the infrastructure of the club the next thing that needs addressing is the personnel that you hire to run the day to day operations of each entity that uses those facilities. I don't think we are capable of hiring that special manager because they might shine and put some noses severely out of joint but if it were me in that same position I would go out and look for the best and not someone who will take the job for a lot less money.

Happy bunch us lot, I must live in isolation, I openly admit Steve Lansdown has made curious decisions and apparently strange mistakes over the years with his ownership of Bristol City FC, he has taken that critique but god help us look where we were and how far we have travelled, a stadium that beggars belief, debt free except what he owes himself, playing, medical, scientific, educational, financial staff, as good as any in the UK, Premier level training facilities not far off and a top grade academy, the man has invested millions, written off millions, backed a stack of coaches and managers to the hilt, sometimes he has been too loyal but he has stuck with them and us through thick and thin.

My own thoughts are thankyou Steve Lansdown for all the good deeds, benefits, leadership, security and support you have given us, happy new year mate.

I think you will find most of us have, but seeing as how you blamed it all on LJ, and not SL & MA, you can’t change you’re tune now Redprintt

I don't think the resources Mr Lansdown has put into his Bristol City should be undervalued but it should also be kept into perspective. The underlined is where football has gone, and to keep up and be competitive Mr Lansdown has has to do similar. Mr Lansdown has been playing catch up, the academy is cat 2, the new training facilities will be improved but still fall short of norms across the Premier league. Improvement would be appointing figures at the club who would make less curious decisions and drive joined up thinking.

Mr Lansdown big plan is never that evident. Many Clubs have long term visions to drive improvement. Clubs that can be seen as realistic peers have done better and continue to do better than BCFC. Bristol City are playing the right notes but not in the right order!

I didn't go into the technicalities or specifics, I am old enough to remember the stadium prior Dolman, I am also old enough to remember our players having to train at the old Imperial sports ground down on the Portway, I am old enough to remember the old floodlights, it's all to do with time and progress I am aware of that.

I just made a personal statement, which ever way you look at it we have a lot to thank Steve Lansdown for, I just look at our neighbours up the road and I can see our advantages, all of the points you highlight, which no doubt have some validity but I stand by my thinking, thankgod we have got him as an owner, our future is secure.

    Happy new year to all.

You make things up as it suits.

From day 1 I launched into SL and Ashton over 4 years ago for appointing a HC with little experience.
You, not surprisingly, have called after 20 games for Holden to be sacked for as you put it 'a proper manager'.
    Not me !
I never wanted Holden but tbf he's done an amazing job with the squad he inherited and the virtually non existent backing from the Board.

I agree with all of that.

My problem is we go in cycles under SL, we sack a manager, we appoint from within, that always fails, but we still do it again. We sign players of quality and then start on a round of signing players who looked good in a televised game once or has lost his way or has been plagued by injuries and they fail, we sign the odd quality player and expect player to change the quality of the bang average players in our squad and worst of all we sign a renowned striker and then do not give him players who can supply the sort of chances he has thrived on during his career. Why sign a player approaching 30 for half of the fee we received for Brownhill already knowing that we couldn't give him a reliable supply, it's madness.

In short we patch things up, we sign players more in hope than expectation, we bring in renown coaches and i'm sorry other than Vyner I haven't seen any improvement elsewhere, people keep telling me how ODowda has improved, again i'm sorry 1 good cross in 3 games is not improvement, Paterson is another he has one really good influential game in probably 4 games, Moore, Bakinson and Semenyo have gone backwards from their promising starts and Wells looks as though he has lost all faith and interest at the club, thank god for Bentley, Kalas, Vyner and Nagy because my god we would really be in trouble without them.

I might have missed something here, but I can’t remember anyone calling for DH to be sacked.
Bemoaning his appointment and the BS3 hiring and firing policies, yes, but not calling for his head.

    You've missed something.

I see that Holden was pressed about the injuries to Williams and Walsh.

Still claiming that Williams was injured on his first day at the club and that at various stages of rehab he sustained other injuries, would not speculate on whether Williams would even play at all this season.

As for Walsh he was asked whether there was any dispute over Walsh not signing a new contract, he said no.

Sorry to say I remain wholly unconvinced on both.

Hopefully more players will be available before we have to play again.

On a wider point I do wonder, with the figures so high again, whether the season won’t be put on hold again at some point.

It depends on who those players actually are, none of them expected to be fit anytime soon are going to affect the area that most seriously needs attention, namely the midfield.

Luton have cancelled their game as well.

The virus is dormant and you are not contagious for 48 hours after contracting it. Plus the test can give false readings under 4 days so testing may not of been tested until afterwards. Wonder if they’ve had players since tested positive and they also done that group hug before kickoff.

Why? They are staying what’s happening but you remain unconvinced. Do you want to be invited round to their houses and check?
