Sadly as a shift worker and father of a young family I don't get to as many games as I would like these days, but I managed to get down there today. I took the wife, the dynamic duo, my nephew and brother in law with me. However, it could be a blessing in disguise after watching that drivel. I'm struggling to recall a worst performance from a Charlton side in my 24+ years supporting them. I have come away from the Valley thoroughly depressed, deflated and despondent for the future of the club I love. I will think long and hard before I waste my money and more importantly my time going down there again under the current regime. My observations on todays game...: 1) WE DIDN'T TRY TO WIN POSSESSION.... It's all well and good getting men behind the ball when we lose posession (we did that reasonably well) but we must be proactive in winning it back in key areas. Our midfield simply stood and watched their opposite numbers play today. Not putting pressure on the ball means that you are highly unlikely to force mistakes from the opposition. Not putting active pressure on the ball meant that we made McCormack & the Carlton Palmer lookalike look like Zidane and Pele. 2) MORGAN FOX IS F*****G S**T.... what on earth was he doing for the first goal? He did nothing to prevent the cross and their winger had all the time in the world, he took two touches and picked out an absolute beauty. It was amateurish from Fox and I wouldn't even expect to see that in Sunday morning pub football. His positioning is awful, his distribution is worse and my dear old mum has more pace...!! Some people will point their finger at the CB's for letting the forward get across them, but anyone who's played the game will know just how much of an absolute nightmare it is to defend against a delivery like that. 3) WE CREATED NOTHING FOR OUR FRONT MEN.... being a forward in this side is a thankless task. Any opportunities they do get are of their own making and are often half chances at best. I personally really like Watt and admire his work rate. I also believe that he has the quality to convert chances if we ever manage to create anything for him. For me he is the only one of our forwards who is anywhere near good enough to play at this level. Big Mak needs the right sort of service otherwise he's totally ineffective. As for KAG and Gucci, they are a long long way away from being Championship quality. I've said before that sacking Luzon is pointless, but after today it is obvious that the players simply are not playing for him. He must therefore be shown the door and we'll see if another one of the network managers can polish the turds/players or at least sprinkle them with glitter.
Thank christ I didn't have to suffer that then Forest...!! I salute you boy's who go week in week out and have to sit through that s**t. To do so would depress me too much. After that game today I feel like I need to smash something up.
i didnt go today. couldnt be bothered frankly. couldnt even give my two tickets away.... seen a post on fb. henderson reacted to something? anyone shed any light on what he did?
Yeah, I believe he reacted to one of their goals by picking the ball out of the net. Either that or a fan called him 'sick note'.
Speechless after yesterday's performance. Not surprised Luzon was sacked with some inexplicable tactics yesterday and nor am I surprised that the Belgian National Front or whatever Duchatelet's political party was called appears to be about to appoint another stooge either as caretaker or full time. Duchatalet appears to be the millionaire version of David Icke in as much as he cannot recognise the flaws in his project and appears to be the worst type of software developer from my time in the IT industry (20 years). He needs to understand that this is not like a piece of software that needs to be debugged (changing of managers), the whole logic of the system is flawed in as much as operation the software is designed to address does not work in the way he originally understood it. What can be done. If Duchatelet will listen to council other than the sycophants, he might recognise that the club will only prosper with an old fashioned manager who takes control of both team recruitment and team selection. Nobody can make a silk purse out of the pigs ear that is our current squad, but a pigs ear can be made into a receptacle that will hold water until the chance comes to buy some silk in January. However a project manager needs to be a project manager not a committee. There are several available managers at 20:1 on the betting shortlist list that could do a job, Pearson, Clough and Poyet among them. If Duchatalet cannot understand his mistakes his financial advisors must consider him to be insane and appoint guardians to manage his fortune and stop the bleeding of value from his investment.
