I must say its awfully loud here in the lower west. I spilt my bovril when that chap started banging his drum.
IA you worry me with your measuring of the 21st place team. Is Parky coming back? Good to get back into our stride so quickly, and against a team who will probably be in or around the play offs. Happy 2012 to all.
If you are still eyeing the relegation places, I guess you are a glass half-full kind of guy? (Oops! Ken shabby beat me to it).
You never know. Not safe unless it's mathematically impossible The result also means we'll stay top regardless of the result at Hillsborough, and a point against either Sheffield team will keep us top after playing both of them twice.
One win against either will be good . 4 points would be great, 6 points would be,bye, bye opposition !
Of course. But I'd take 2 if offered. Hand on heart, my prediction for this run of four games (Orient, Brentford, Sheffield W, Sheffield U) was 5 points. Thought we'd lose today and win at Hillsborough. We'll see how it goes. Bring on the Fulham.
Let's call that a draw then! Had to duck out for the last 15 mins or so to deal with a domestic but back now. What a great result. Worried about today given our exertions the other night but this gets the momentum right back. And all achieved with no loanees in midfield! Look forward to the player ratings from those who attended.
I noted that at one point there were 20 "guests" watching. Cmon guys and gals, sign up. The more the merrier.
I was a bit concerned when we were conceding free-kicks on the edge of our area - but all came good in the end.
We're CHARLTON ATHLETIC , We're Top of the League!!!!!! Super Super Chris Super Super Chris Super Super Chris Super Chrissy Powell
I was in the north upper at half time the police moved in to clear us but the J block and H Block refused to leave...anarchy at the valley great laugh and we stayed put. Not avintage performance from us and Brentford definately were won of the better sides to visit the valley so hard fought win. Cort did nothing wrong Pritchard was decent and deserve to keep his place apart from 1 mistake he looked at home alongside Hollands. Wiggins and solly quality as for booing BWP didnt here any from our fans at all.
Was 1st v 2nd when we played Notts Co. (won 2-1) Was 1st v 2nd when we played Huddersfield (won 2-0) Will be 1st v 2nd when we play Sheffield Wednesday Could be 1st v 2nd when we play Sheffield United (1) Becoming a bit of a habit this type fixture isnt it and... (2) I dont mind as we're getting pretty good at them!! Huddersfield definitely out of the Title race now though for me
If they keep Clark and don't improve their defence, then maybe. If they make a few changes, maybe not
I feel though as well that Huddersfield only have Jordan Rhodes to score their goals (I dont think anyone else has scored for them for sometime now)... If he goes in the window then I'd be worried for them as they could end up like us last year. Back to the game though and did anyone else notice the irony. The referee finally clamped down on time wasting, he gave us a free kick, blew his whistle, counted to 2 and then gave Wiggins a yellow card. Its a work in progress I'd agree but surely now it means we'll see all referees consistantly coming down hard on it (apologise as I stifle a small snigger)
Booing BWP- didn't hear a thing. Kermo my MOM again, with Wiggins second and Morro 3rd (how often is it those 3?). Quick mention for green, not for the goal, but that you could see we missed him against LO. Also, Diagoura always seems to play well against us. Wouldn't be adverse to see us be linked to him. To all north standees- it was good having you in the west for a change. Everyone seemed decent, nothing like some of the NU tales that have been mentioned on forums.
Great performance, and in front of a new fan, too - my prospective sister-in-law Lesley who thoroughly enjoyed herself! Yes, I'm one of those who's been shouting for Bradley Pritchard to be included and I don't think he was found wanting today - solid tackling, decent distribution and even a few headers won. He provided forward momentum, something we've been sadly lacking recently. We do not need the short term loan players, I'm convinced of it. Excellent goals by Morrison, who must have been wondering how he was ever left in that position and by Green, who took his time and finished beautifully. Very solid performance by Cort, slotted straight in. Clarke looked short of fitness, or does he always run as if he's got a broomstick up his jacksie? If I were Hayes, I think I'd be hacked off, too. I thought Brentford always looked dangerous, but when you think how many actual saves, rather than catches and clearances, Hamer made, they couldn't turn the pressure into goals. Complete mystery to me why Rossler took Marcus Bean off - one of the best players I've seen this season. Dreadful referee, completely clueless. What was all that with the positioning of free kick and throws? Ye gods. Good bounce back from the defeat at Orient, but look what happened after Stevenage - this team has got guts and character and style. COYR!! P.S. So that's what the drummers were doing in the West Stand...
Diacagouru was always mentioned on Player (once they put the right game on,again) - and seemed to be instrumental in most things for Brentford.
