All the speculation makes it rather frustrating for us fans & even though it's only been a week since Rodgers was installed as Liverpool manager, it seems like a lifetime. Especially as we see other clubs, like Norwich, getting their new boss in place. Thing is, with the way our board moved 5 years ago, when they installed Roberto, with our 'continental philosophy', we're never going to be in contention with the usual candidates that end up from time to time on the 'management merry-go-round '. That's not to say the likes of Chris Hughton is not a top manager, it's just he's not the 'fit' for Swansea City!! With our club philosophy, it's always going to be more diffucult to get the correct 'fit' in quickly!! Huw & the board have managed to progress us every time they've faced these diffucult decisions. Even more amazingly, they've managed to do it every time since we changed to a 'possession football club'!! Can they do it a 4th time??!! Even though Huw's away, I'm sure he's still doing his utmost to progress the situation. He's a real Jack & along with the rest of them (Jacks) on the board, I'm hoping they'll do the appointment that not only maintains our philosophy, but takes us to the next level with it too!! Who would have thought, we would have even linked to the kind of candidates we are, a few years go!!! Go get them Huw....
Not sure if Jenkins is on holiday. Where has that come from? If so he's made a very big mistake. Whereas I agree in taking our time to get the right man this is not time for a holiday, IF it's true.
he has to be home to get them in the first place......he should be here sorting things out. there will be plenty of time for a holiday when the job is done....
Superswan how do you know he is not here sorting things out? Really you have no patience at all, we are appointing a new manager who we hope will fit in seamlessly at our club, its better to take some time and get the right person than rushing around and panicking and installing the wrong person for the job. I am happy that Huw and the board will get the one they are after.
because valley what would you do on holiday. he should be here going through the applicants that are at the club properly and interviewing possible candidates and not abroad on holiday. there is plenty of time for him to do that once we get a manager in place......
How do you know he's on holiday? Of course he isn't! He's in a foreign country looking for a manager, simple.
he is on holiday i can guarantee it, i contacted people who know to see what info i could get and was told its a right carry on at the liberty with the chairman on holiday...
Dai, I suspect that Huw is on a working holiday - combining business with pleasure and all that. I would be very surprised if he isn't talking to people whilst he's away, agents and so forth. The business element makes his "holiday" tax deductible.
With all your sources at the club you appear to get an awful lot wrong, and if you had the inside ear of anything you would know who huw is interested in getting to the club. I suspect though you are just guessing like the rest of us in the absence of any facts.
To be fair to Dai I did read an article on BBC/Sky Sports/Other newspaper linked via twitter saying Huw was on holiday at the moment.
has anyone heard of the internet, mobile phones, skype etc its not like he is incommunicado. Leigh Dineen doesnt seem to be bothered about him being on holiday.
Maybe he doesn't want to email or anything while battered on pina colada's. Drunken email has gotten plenty of people into trouble.
lol.. you maybe right. Even if he is who is to say there is nothing going on in the background, lets be honest we are the last to know and its usually when everything is done and dusted.
for all we know he has one target in mind and that individual is away themselves and has arranged to meet after he comes back when they are both available!!!
Is Laudrup a pundit for Danish TV at the Euro's? He may have other commitments himself (or he may be necking some strawberry daquiri's at a beachside bar). We'll know soon enough. Thank god some football is coming on TV to give us our fix (though I doubt Poland v Greece will be a classic).
has anyone heard of the internet, mobile phones, skype etc its not like he is incommunicado. Leigh Dineen doesn't seem to be bothered about him being on holiday. so this is how you want to have our chairman run the club and make very important decisions ....skype and the like. a teeny weeny bit amarturish dont you think.....I would have thought that the appointment of a new manager would be done properly and efficiently with a degree of urgency and not saying things like...we hope to have a manager in place by the end of next week...MAYBE.....Its pathetic
What's pathetic Superswan is your bleating about Huw Jenkins, you are going on and on about this, for god's sake give it a rest, the club will have a manager when they are good and ready, we have 10 weeks before the start of the season, we have Euro 2012 on at the moment and decisions on players won't be decided until after that, we have plenty of time. Look here is what happened in the past Brendan Rodgers new manager at Swansea - 16/07/10 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/swansea_city/8820996.stm Paulo Sousa new manager at Swansea - 23/06/09 http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/jun/23/paulo-sousa-swansea-city-manager
Well that an obvious clue from his agent, clearly Jenkins has met with Laudrup, so there's one good one in the mix now, and as Jenkins has gone on to Spain for a 'Holiday' of sorts lets hope the other targets are just as good, which I'm sure they are!.................
