<peacedove>Most managers that went to Celtic had been successful, I think Brendan Rodgers
has gone to Celtic at a difficult time. Rangers are back in the Scottish Premiership. He's not
going to find it too easy.

However, as a former Liverpool manager I wish him the best of luck.

I think you've hit the nail on the head here.

Celtic have been unchallenged and to my eyes have gotten worse and worse over the past 3/4 years dhelia (sp?) has been awful and the clubs squad is seriously unbalanced with one striker, 40 midfielders and a lack of decent CBs.

Rodgers could find himself up to his neck in it there.

Rangers have however a team that needs change to compete so there's a couple of sides in scotland who could cut celtics throats ever mind ranger.s

The issue is now he's gone there he can't succeed without doing something in the champions league and he must win titles but get no credit for them... the only way to get a big job in england now is have a big year in the CL.... aint happening with that squad.

It's got John Barnes written all over it.

He'll be eaten alive up there. Crazy career decision imo.

Well... john barnes was never ready to manage IMO. Rogers is an experienced journeyman manager. I think however he could well be done in as the timing of his appointment smell like he's coming in right as celtic have waned.

    No win situation imo.

If he wins the title - "its only Scotland, it's a one club league"

If he doesn't win the title - "**** manager"

Even if he would a double or Treble (do Scotland have a League Cup?), it'll still be the same.

Can;t see him doing anything in the CL either, Celtic have been declining ever since Rangers were demoted. Rangers being back in the SPL won't suddenly change that, it will take the two or three years to get back on par with Celtic!

My next door neighbour is a Scot and worse still he's an Everton/Rangers man.<grr>, he knows I like Celtic so he'd been on my case since Rangers knocked Celtic out in the cup semifinal, it was pure funny when I saw him in our local pub after Celtic had won the title and Hibs battered them in the cup final and I tore him a new one.:)

Yes they do and yes you are right. Only getting to group in cl has any real meaning

Don't think Ranger will take that long imo.
Celtic have got fat and lazy.

When he took the job. No one was expecting easy ride. He won his first derby, then thrashed 7:0 by Barcelona.

I think the group he's got its a 0-06 record with probably 25 goals against... not precisel ideal so his job is to win the league and that requires him really not losing the players while they get hockeyed.

In fairness after last 3 years? they'd not even got this far so he's already scraped through better than the last div.

Celtic would have to be a complete implosion not to win that sack of **** league

Do Celtic managers get sacked or do they just get bored?

I think they mostly jump before it goes pear shaped. Then the league is so bad they just hire someone new, buy him a frw players and repeat.

Strachen thought imo it was all over and went.
    Lennon certainly jumped.

Dhelia sp? was piss poor and both parties agreed to part.

Rogers is up there padding cv and once they sell up dembele and on or two more he will take first job offered.
