I suppose this is what happens when you have a succesfull team and board . Numpties appear from everywhere
If he is going for mid table players, they will land up mid table, we are happy with that, Liverpool fans will think that is a disaster - again! The positively lack of ambition or maybe no progress is alarming for them. Me I am happy that I can see progress at the only club I care about, if Joe goes I know we will replace him, we have progressed as a club after every sale of players or managers in the last almost 10 years. Joe is a local lad though and I'd be a little gutted if he goes, the £15m-£20m in the bank will help us get quality to replace him.
Sorry R but what did you expect? Look at his track record and it's all there, he dumped Watford as soon as he had a chance, thinking he could make a fist of it at Reading. Having failed there he was very lucky, imo, to turn up here. I suspect he was not looking forward to the second season, given the fact that teams were causing us more and more problems as the season went on. For me, at times he had no answers and I feel he was about to be found out. I'm glad he's gone. In regard to his behaviour, Rogers has tried the same tap up trick as he did with Siggy but where did that get him? Puddle are not a top 4 club and will not improve under Rogers and I can only see troubled times ahead for them.
Crash & burn is what my money is on re: Rodgers coming season, not what I'm hoping for though . Laudrup was at least an equal managerial hiring as Rodgers ..... The only difference so far , as one of the the previous poster points out , is the bad transfers amongst the good ones that Rodgers had for us . We'll have to wait on Laudrup's record on bad transfers but it's looking pretty special so far .
I was a Rodgers fan because he delivered Prem football to my Club. Difficult to find anyone who would disagree with that in May 2011. Nobody is without their faults and he had his for sure. Probably not as good as he or the media thinks he is, for one. He inherited a good squad in the Championship that already played the right way. His skill was turning us into a more attacking force after the Sousa era, and crucially his inspired signing of Scott Sinclair. That's what got us up. He kept us up with style and this was his through his stubborn refusal to compromise on the way we play. Admirable, but it sometimes bit us in the ass too because we rarely won ugly and often crumbled when sussed out. Have to say his lack of tactical nous (as shown brutally in the two Norwich games) was jaw-dropping at times. But for all that, we owe the guy a great deal imo. No sour grapes from me provided he keeps to his word and leaves our players alone. I suspect he will unless one of the criteria is met in which case he's entitled. But even though I've been one of his biggest supporters I find his recent comments in the media about being "in the market" for Swans players should the opportunity arise at best unhelpful and at worse being as close as he could be to openly tapping up. Keep your yap shut, mate or simply answer the questions by saying something like "We'll have to look at that should the situation arise". Openly saying he'd be in the market could have the effect of unsettling players like Allen, and that's maybe exactly what he wants to happen. We shall see.
That's definitely what's he's trying to do KJ, it's really starting to piss me off the way he's going about things. Like with siggy 'Swansea have first priority but if he decides not to go there we would definitely like to sign him.' ffs if you say you want us to have first priority just shut up and see how it pans out first. It's so blatently obvious what he's trying to do, he must really think the majority of football fans are stupid. Now he's doing the exact same thing with Allen and all our star players. 'Id definitely be interested in Swansea players if they entered the market.' translated to - 'hand in a transfer request and I'll sign you.' RODGERS F**K OFF AND LEAVE OUR TEAM AND PLAYERS ALONE!!!!
There was always a danger of when he left he was coming back for our players (Huw obviously knew that ) he's a manager with a limited ability of bringing players in from whom before he hadn't had experience of managing / training (he's not alone it that I know). The guy had his bags packed last March and went through the door quicker than a whore could drop her draws. Don't forget we gave him the chance to shine and we gained as much a he did but now he's just part of our past and therefore he'll be given the same welcome as befits my mood .The guy is a good talker and never rushes and considers his comments carefully ,he never had to say more than he has for it to have the desired effect ,he has unsettled the certain players and I for one am of the opinion "thanks for the memory now F**k off " 6 points next season for us please ,now that would bring a smile to my face
i for one admired brenden for what he helped the swans achieve in the 2 seasons he was with us, will always be held in high esteem for that in regard to the allen talk, dont think joe will go anywhere for at least two years, he is still learning the game and think he is level headed enough to realise that another 2 good seasons with the swans will see him achieve his dream move to man united, at least he will know he is going to a club that will be in top two brenden leaving, i for one was sorry to see him leave but was really concerned how we would fare next season, after the fulham game we only took 5 points out of a possible 27 until the liverpool game which was a typical nothing on game, teams had really worked us out pressing us higher up the field , would benden have had a different style of play for next season , i for one didnt think so and could have seen us struggling, hopefully with ml at the helm we will retain our passing game but become more clinical in the last third where it matters
I agree with you, which is why I was never worried about Rodgers leaving. That's why I can't understand the likes of dilligaf having a hissy fit every time I mention someone leaving. We need to keep improving, and then means letting players and managers leaving and getting better replacements. I wish more fans would understand that.
Well recent history has shown that those who leave tend to struggle a bit whilst we just seem to get better by distilling what they leave behind. Huge kudos to Jenkins for that imo. I think the Rodgers departure will be exactly the same and I'll be amazed if he does well at Liverpool for the reasons I've already stated.
I'm happy for Brendan ,it's what he wanted & deserved , a managerial gig at Liverpool is a want on most managers wish lists . That being said , I think it was a mistake he will regret . Trying to fine tune a group like Swansea , that had there game intact before he came through the door , will be a far cry from trying to get the over payed egos at Liverpool to play as a unit . We have a great manager & assistant in Laudrup & Larsen , I'm feeling very confident watching the players these 2 are bringing in , very confident indeed !.
Forgive me for saying this, but Allen, Siggy and Borini are currently mid table players, if you want to break into the top four you've got to have players who will get you there. I appreciate that spurs signed siggy, but he will be there as a squad player.
I won't be alone here in thinking Allen could comfortably play above mid-table quality. Borini was one of Roma's best players last season and they wanted to keep him - Roma are regular top 4 in Italy. Sig has just signed for Tottenham, who right now are top 4 quality. Obviously you are forgiven for not knowing the other players we're linked with that don't relate to Swansea, I wouldn't expect you to. But, would you call Afellay, Tello, Krasic and so on 'mid-table' quality? Of course you wouldn't.
