FSG have spent a fortune on the club since they took over. We spent the best part of 4 years making a 50mill loss per season and they picked up the tab to keep us in the black (I'm unaware of this financial year's situation). Any money spent has been out their own pockets because we don't make any profit still - that's 20ish mill per window on average I think in terms of net spend. Plus their initial investment. Yes, the club has gone up in valuation and the squad value is a big part of that, but they've spent a fortune already. It's like having 200 quid to buy your first car. It'll be alright, but you'll spend more money plugging gaps and fixing it than investing and improving it. Doesn't mean because it doesn't look like a Rolls that you're not spending heavily on it; just that the money needs to be better spent and you need to find some cut price bargains on the way - or find a better mechanic/driver... There are many interpretations of that analogy. Pick one
Speaking of chicks, there's England forward Eniola Aluko on the BBC gobbing off about lets face it, men, calling women's football ****, we are "uneducated" apparently for pointing out that women's football is almost unwatchable but for the farcical things that happen Apparently to state that the quality of football has been cack, even by WSL standards, has nothing to do with it apparently. There are 20 decentish female footballers in the world, and 14 or something play for Germany, it seems helga and hortense are good for more than carrying beers during octoberfest
We are not a singular entity, we are part of a group of sports outlets owned by FSG, would have been better to have been bought by an oil rich magnate. Massive initial outlay on players and financial security and once financial stability is achieved run the club just as City, Utd and Chelsea are doing now. We are lagging behind as last seasons finish and this season's transfer targets show and the stagnation looks set to continue.
I agree with everything you've said. My main point in posting it was there's no love there for LFC like there is for the Sox. I said the other day that people moaning about the owners should remember that they rescued us from almost certain administration. I admire what they've done and especially the play tough tactics re Suarez and now seemingly, Sterling. The club is more of a business to them I think which is why they are probably happy with top 4 finish as a target for the money it brings in rather than for us actually challenging seriously in Europe. Their philosophy [maybe] is go as far as we can and earn as much as possible by doing that, if we win something great but it's not a top priority. As fans, out top priority is silverware.
Rodgers needs more time. A wee bit more luck and some better players, but if he could have just had young Jon Flanagan fit as he was a key player last season.
All joking aside, I do rate young Flanno and was surprised him and Stones didn't stay with the WC squad last summer as it's clear what we have at the moment at the back is terrible
Right back at ya, Roberto, may his reign be long and relegation troubled I suspect another season of anticipating Everton winning the Liverpool didn't do well either cup. I guess that makes you defending champions
