I thought it was a mix up between Kelly and Reina that led to the first goal. Even though results haven't been fantastic, the signs are positive for the long term. We've got a young eager manager that doesn't stick to the norm, thats for sure, it would have been really easy to pick Carra and Downing. He went completely different, and it almost paid off. I read something recently that Shanks lost his first two games as reds boss. Okay its premature to compare Brendan to Shanks, but there are similarities, both wanted to put themselves on the club. We do need a goalscorer, and I've a feeling one will be signed by the end of the window.
There is absolutely no doubt that Skrtel ****ed up. When he got to the ball an easy clip up the line was an option but turning back put him into trouble. But, my point was that he was following Rodgers. I was also pointing that Reina should have been the player filling that space, something you questioned. I feel we may have to get used to this as I believe this is what Brendan was referring to when, after the WBA game, he said there will be more days like this. How many pundits have we heard praising Swansea but also criticise them for playing in dangerous areas? How many goals did they give away doing it last season? If Rodgers is to be our manager (which obviously he is) then we shall have to get used to it. I'd rather see us play our way out of danger than hoof it up field!
gald you said that as the rubbish spain are just getting away with and barca wanted to get up to is a complete load. you've got two teams in a unique situation of having players of the likes of xavi, iniesta, messi, predro, fabregas... alonso etc... they bascially don't score when we talk about spain..... Lets tlak about france who played us with anelka playing so deep he was i na 4-60... what did france do in the euros???? i think proper strikers like villa or torres or rvp or rooeny are hard to come by so sides play one up now... fair enough... it creates these second striker type who you can look to tevez or nasri for a stereotype... tevez shows all thats good about it and nasri all thats bad.... but to play 6 midfielders and assume you can pass it in is arrogance of the highest orrder and i was NEARLY glad chelsea showed that up.
Playing a high line and consequent attacking football is invariably going to take some getting used to. Luckily I think skrtel and agger are the best partnership to adapt to this and pull it off
Kelly should have cleared it first time rather than take it on his knee, however I suspect he wasn't expecting the ball to reach him with it coming past Reina and two or three players too.
I think nailed on is a bit overegging the pudding , Dev. Last week we were **** but I didnt say we were not going to achieve anything. i said: " I think we should be good for a top 4" . "should" as in "aim for" rather than "will definitely make"... top 4 ?
Hahaha, "patience patience patience, he needs time to build, it's not fair to judge, leave him alone, boohoohooi..." Ooh, one draw with a good performance against a fairly meh City and it's "Let me suck your dick, Brendan!" Sheesh. This is why I have no doubt there'll be no patience for BR if it starts going wrong.
Lol See the extremes being thrown around by some as usual. How about: we played well enough to see that if Maintained & improved upon that type of performance will win more games than we'll lose. no "oh no we're doomed" or "woohoo: we're going to win the league". Just work in progress, progressing nicely. The errors yesterday were similar to those we've seen since BR took over and clearly a transitional thing our defenders are going through. Either our existing players will get used to it or they'll be replaced by players who can in next years transfer window. I think they're all good enough. The new additions (acquisitions & promotions) look good with room to improve. The system of play seems to suit all those we thought it would and those it doesn't we know it's not the system it's the players ability or attitude. We have a young manager who Seems to be getting a good reaction from the squad and we are playing attractive football: whether you believe that's a continuation of KD, a return to teams of old or copying other current teams style who really gives a stuff as long as it works? While disappointed with the result I'm pleased with the performance. The two games kinda went how I thought they would. I think we'll look good against the better and hence more open teams. The challenge for BR is to show if with a supposedly superior squad he can learn how to unlock those teams that don't want to play. It's not a new problem for our team or this manager and is as we all know the key to whether we improve table wise this year.
The scapegoat relay baton now passed on to young Borini, well I guess some people need to have someone to vent their frustrations towards. Sad bast@rds!
Does it not occur to you that some of us who are asking for patience were asking for patience with Kenny? Or do you just like to wum your fellow supporters?
