Seems like a typical Liverpool performance against Wigan, in all honesty... I was surprised we won by 3. By the way I can't comment on the game too much as it was the Mrs birthday and I've been drunk or too hungover to see the game. Got it set to record on LFC TV at 6.
simple fact... we totally lack penetration. this is one of rdogers buzz words. I beleive two things about this. 1. rodgers thought borini and dempsey were the ones to provide this penetration from wider areas 2. I think he was badly mistaken in this view even if he had got them both bedded into the team. LFC need to buy to solve this issue to progress up the table consistently.
I forgot all about Borini if I'm honest, when is he due back? I still think he could be a big player for us, big fan of his movement and he's he sort of player Suarez needs upfront, I mean him and Sterling are starting to strike up a good partnership, and the movement in a front 3 of Borini, Sterling and Suarez would be interesting
So that is what Liverpool FC has amounted to? Hailing the managers tactical nous for winning 3 games in 12 against opposition who the relegation candidates would be targeting wins for. How ambitious of you.
So the Swans are 1 point and a +1 better goal diff than us and you're hailing your managers tactical nous for losing more games than us?
borini is a decent player now, he need 2 years. like walcott needed a long long time.... but he's not ready to play consistently and score 20 goals is he? rotate him and stelring maybe? but this requires someone with suarez to consistnely play. ie buy
He's certainly not some one we can heavily rely on at the moment, but as you say he could be a decent enough squad rotation player. We definitely haven't seen the best of him yet but like Henderson, he'll be a good asset in the future (hopefully).
I liked Enrique pushed forward. He isn't great at crossing but then we're not looking to put balls in like that anyway. He is very good on the ball, can pick a pass, has pace to burn and is able to swap with Johnson too. Certainly not a long term solution but good for now. Sterling had a even better game from the right too IMO
I agree with you about Enrique, also if he does lose the ball which he does have a habit of doing, it doesn't matter so much as he's further up the pitch as opposed to being back in defence which when he does lose the ball, just puts a lot more pressure on the other 3 defenders and Reina.
Happy Birthday to Mrs Zingy To be fair though I dont think Its all bad with you guys though... Sterling has suprised everybody outside Liverpool and Suarez although a plonker sometimes Is **** hot fairplay to him..It Is very difficult playing the way Rodgers wants to play against teams as The opposition know they arent going to get bombarded by crosses/long balls etc I know you guys are probably fed up with comparisons to swansea but I dont think they score hatfuls of goals (qpr aside?) In the Prem I think you need to mix It up more which BR has attempted to do by changing formation a number of times during recent games and worked most of the time..I think If he kept Carroll and knocked It around a bit with the odd cross/long ball to him (He also Instinctively makes runs Into the box) you guys would be further up the table.. I dont see his reasons for not giving him a chance at all as once he hit form back end of last season he tore a few defences another one (us in the semi final aswell newky twat lol) I think he Is better at being direct/out and out pain In the arse for defences than Dempsey or sturridge tbh I know he's not setting the world alight at the moment but West Ham cannot create the amount of chances and get him Into those positions as you can as far as I have seen?
Well when he was manager for us he didn't have a plan B. Possibly he heard this criticism of him and he started to think differently. After all he is a young manager and learning all the time. BTW congratulations on your win yesterday. Looking forward to the game next week. It's going to be a cracker.
That's his natural defensive instinct taking over which is great to see Brilliant defensively IMO. Going forward is a mixed bag - he will lose the ball often but he has the ability to play some cracking balls. He got the assist for Suarez and could have got one for Hendo as well. I think he has created more clear cut chances than most players in the team this season despite playing less games. Re. Suso - I do feel sorry for him and hopefully it won't effect him too much. But as Dave says, the needs of the team are far more important. As a result, we played brilliantly in the second half. Inspired subsitution - Hendo is the closest player we have that can play as a DM IMO. I wouldn't say he was amazing but he didn't look out of place and his passing was crisp. Made a couple of good runs into the box as well. Credit to Rodgers - he's very much a proactive manager and is not afraid to make changes at any time in the match. I remember when Rafa was here and would always make subs around the 60 min mark ha!
I know - I was sharing the same concerns as you re. Suso. I can imagine it must have been difficult/embarrassing for him - finally starting in his favoured role and taken off after 30 mins.
Lets keep our feet on the ground fellas. We are doing ok at the moment, if we can continue an unbeaten run then we may end up where we need to be. Rodgers is doing well imo but the people having a go at Kenny please remember who he is.
Must have been. I've read a fair few biographies of ex or current players and a few of them said that it is the ultimate embarrassment to be hooked at half time, they'd rather play one minute of the second half before the substitution is made. Before half time...? To be fair to Suso, it wasn't because he was playing poor. He got into some decent positions and managed to get three shots away in that thirty minutes.
