I think you could be proved right there DPJ. It's tough to move a train forward when it's still busy rolling backward. Liverpool might be a big club, but they don't have Man City's money, they can't go out and basically retool overnight. It's going to take him at least a season possibly two to clear out players, work through contracts of players that aren't trade-able, and bring in new. What style is he going to play - it's not going to be our style, it's just not that easily done. Barca have been playing their way for all to see now for several seasons, it's no secret what they do nor how they do it, but try emulating it. If it were that easy there would be clubs all over Europe and South America cloning it by now and there aren't. He's going to have to fashion something different. He's going to have to work with what he inherits - sounds similar doesn't it. The big difference is we were a squad on an upward trajectory, well schooled by the likes of Martinez and then Sousa (and yes, he did a good job in that regard), Liverpool's is going the other way schooled by Dalglish - who stepped back into management / coaching after being away from it for a ton of years.
Don't think there is much chance of Buck not impressing at interview. He is young, intelligent, articulate, speaks fluent Spanish and has all the coaching credentials. An interview at this stage is much like coursework in the GCEs - you've already got the pass, the exam itself dictates the grade. To be honest, if Martinez is not appointed before Friday, I reckon we can wave goodbye to Buck. You know, I wouldn't be as put out by that as I would in losing Siggy, which would be very likely and very prejudicial for us. Should that happen I will not be forgiving Buck in a hurry - he knows such repercussions would damage our club very badly, particularly at this critical stage of our development.
Yes exactly Yankee, what is Rodgers style? because has anyone seen it? what the world of football saw from Swansea, was developed by Martinez and Sousa, no denying that Rodgers has made some good signings, but hell he's got one hell of a job to do at Anfield, man I just cannot believe all this. Anyway here's the latest from the mail, and not good reading, Jenkins makes valid criticism, of the Liverpool hierarchy!............. If Brendan goes , I'll wish him well but not really care what happens once he gone & we get our money . Once he goes I'm only worried about what we do , not him . I really do think he will struggle with Liverpool though but that's his ... deserving choice !
This is a worry, sigh hasn't signed on the dotted line yet so that move is not going ahead if Rodgers goes. The other thing to think about is which of our players will he need to bolster the Liverpool team? Sinclair is also holding off on a contract and you can't blame him either. I would be very very disappointed in Rodgers if he went so soon into this project, I thought he was made from stronger stuff, hopefully he is. If he goes he goes but it would hurt me if I'm being honest
Oh dear, some stuff being said about Rodgers and he isn't even gone, or may not be at all.. If he stays there will only be good thigns to say about him. Really hope he stays, because he does have a mazzive influence on this club. he has shaped the team and given them belief and has been very good for us. Hope we keep him for another season at least. I wonder if Glyfi will wait to see what Rodgers does before actually signing?
i wish him well also but i cant stop feeling that he will stay. I dont know why because everything points to him going. i have just got this inclination that he really dont know what to do for the best and i think eventually he will choose us us the safer option, he may get rich at liverpool over night but i think his conscience will get the better of him and he will stay for another season at least....i hope im right....
You know Swim, there is some interesting fresh management talent out there this time around. And we are a much more attractive proposition that we were two years ago.

Try to remember , he is being interviewed for one of the most decorated club football teams ever . While 2 thirds of me will be worried & sad , a third of me will be celebrating Rodgers good fortune & dedication to us while we had him , same as I felt for Martinez . Whatever Buck's choice is , I'll be confident going into the new season , Huw will be at the ready !!
Of course ... we move on. I have no control of other people, places or things, but I will always be a JACK
This is a worry, surely Rodgers knows the damage this will do, hell we are back in the Martinez situation again, though with a more demanding League, to cope with!............
Phill you don't have talk bollox sometimes: "all the credit that Rodgers got this season, was down to our squad that he inherited nothing else, silly little man!.." Yet more evidence you are turning on our Manager, just as you did with the title of the thread. As at time of writing we don't even know if he's going yet! You wouldn't have dreamed of using those words after we beat Man City. Get a ****ing grip. Sure Rodgers inherited a decent squad but I think his very astute signings (Sinclair anyone?) helped. Martinez and Sousa laid the foundations but Rodgers pulled it all together. To say "he'll be found out" and that the only reason he was successful was down to his players does him a massive disservice. One of the biggest clubs in the world isn't after him for nothing. This Club owes a huge debt to Rodgers, and if he goes good luck to him. He has to take his chances like everyone else who jumps ship. I happen to agree that it's a leap too soon for him and Liverpool's owners will be too demanding for his tastes but it's his choice. We'll move on and be better than ever. But until then, and probably afterwards if it happens, our Manager deserves respect and credit, and he'll get both from me.
Glad to have got through reading all this at last ! still none the wiser as to Rogers staying or going yet though ! Hope he stays but we have no control over events so the club will deal with it for us whatever happens, nice to play fantasy chairman though . If we do lose him it will be no prob getting another up and coming manager having seen what a great steping stone to the big time we are, but to find one that will fit our team and style may be harder to recruit. Someone that knows our style and players would be good and to stay longer than the others would be good mmmmm Jenkins do your badges now !!!! I hope Rogers wants a top striker and HJ is playing hard ball so BR is using the L/pool job as an arm twister ? Any way never a dull moment following the swans eh lads .
But the thing is CrackerJack, this ****'s getting a little old. I'm not particularly interested in his career or his best interest because as Ivor said, this is going to impact Sig's signing and any renewal we have in the works on Sinclair. The timing sucks and Buck's got very little consideration to our best interest otherwise he would have nailed this today. At least that's how it appears. However, the only thing I can think of is that nothing has been said by BR because nothing needs to be said - as was stated earlier today reinforcing the club's previous statement - no approach has been made by Liverpool - so what is there to comment on, in truth nothing. All HJ's quote in the Mail is saying is that he's not happy with the way that Liverpool have conducted their business because of the circus that's ensued in the media. I don't think you can extrapolate from that anything that infers that BR has been approached, that he is going to interview or that he's even needed to reconsider his previous position. It's all conjecture and speculation.
If this is all being carried out without BR, then thats one thing GUARANTEED to turn him off. If it's that bad when your potentially in line for an interview, what's it going to be like if you get the job!
