Ok so a few neighbouring countries and Japan play baseball aswell, though it's hardly a global sport. The World Series is contested by American Teams, and one Canadian team. We have a Welsh side in our Football Premier League, are we arrogant enough to call it the World Premier League? As for the tournament being named after a paper, I doubt that is true
Ok. I hold my hands up. A spot of Googling has informed me that the "World" newspaper thing is an urban legend. I honestly believed it was true!!
No but many people are arrogant enough to believe that the best football by a mile is always played in it. Arrogance over here is just different to American arrogance What the Americans choose to call the Breeder's Cup has little to do with the issues around it anyway.
Kiyonemakibi....The Premier League is the most watched league in the world, that is a fact. Wether it's the best, id say it's up there, with La Liga
KS, if you are talking about soccer the highest average crowds are in the Bundesliga. If I remember correctly the avarage Bundesliga crowd is about 6,000 higher than the English Premier League. The three highest average attendances are: 1. The NFL. 2. The Indian Cricket competition (IPL). 3. The Bundesliga in Germany. I think the English league is fourth or fifth.
Biased Timeform ratings dont mean anything, they are simply the opinion of Timeform. Tell me what horses apart from Frankel and Danedream, who had any chance of winning a BC race that are not going? Workforce? Overrated horse, won a shockingly poor Derby in a good time, times dont mean much in Europe, won the worst Arc I have ever seen, has been found out this year as not good enough. Snow Fairy would have had a good chance in the Filly and Mare turf but we are represented by the unbeaten Group 1 Arc day winner Nahrain, and Snow Fairy has targets where she has already proven herself before. Please do tell me these "top 20 in the world" horses who had any chance of winning a BC race who are not going. The Arc weekend was absolute rubbish, snoozefest, as was British Champions Day, they will never compare with the Breeders Cup, and im not talking about quality, im talking about as an event.
