In hind sight I wish we have sold him at the end of the 2010 season given that he missed most of last season through injury and was top goal scorer at the end of that season.

Life goes on and no player is bigger than the club. Pitman has shown he can score goals and albert has been in form recently. hopefully the money can be spent improving the defence and midfield.

We are just another club and another set of innocent fans held to ransom by over-hyped, over -paid football players who we show nothing but support for only for them to turn their backs on us and the club that has also shown a massive amount of support for. Yes players get injured and its part of football, and we have to accept that, but NM should do something mildly honourable, and give back the wages for pretty much the entire season he sat out last year, knowing full well he had no intention of signing a new contract this year....

Could have gone down as a noble city legend achieving something great at our club, but all that will happen now is he will go to a Fulham, not excel there, because their a foreigners out there 10x the all round player he is, and be back at a championship club by the time he is 28. Players like Onyewu formerly of AC Milan our the types of rare player I truly respect, injured for an entire year, and upon his own request he offered to play without a salary the following year as a thank you for the medical treatment and support shown by the club.

Harsh as it sounds, but all the hard work NM has achieved here has been undone today, and he can F right off.

you all forget that a £6m offer from Leicester was more than acceptable at the time, it has been blatantly obvious for at least 12 months that Nicky was not going to sign a new contract.

Now why would he refuse to sign for Leicester, who despite our spats with them, were looking good for a decent season this year, he was playing in the championship anyway and they would have bettered his wages considerably?

If he refuses Leicester why not refuse a Wigan or Fulham when he can sit out his last 6 months with us and even sign a pre season contract now with an Everton or a Villa.

Unless we are very lucky we wont be getting anything, thats how I see it anyhow.

Nice debate but he's gonna go, for nowt or 3.5m nothing we can do about it.
I've been bored so have looked at NM and BP's scoring records before joining us.
    NM 62 games 33 goals
    BP 52 games 30 goals
not much different and I suspect minutes played and goals scored BP is not far behind NM maybe even in front. So I'm not worried about him leaving (just p****d off about how it has come about) cos I believe we have a ready made replacement.
I'd now be tempted to give BP a run in the side, he may not have NMs pace but seems to have a good football brain and the ability to get into good scoring positions and involve other players.
    The future is RED!!!

Tis a double edged sword for us and no mistake.

Yes Pitman more than deserves an extended run in the team to prove his worth, but we also need to keep Maynard in the shop window as well given the circumstances because no one will want to buy NM if he's not getting regular first team action.

    I highly doubt that.

For someone that will be free in January he isn't going to get you 3.5m.

1.5m at best, I feel sorry for you lot.

    "Where have I said that?"

Ha! this tosser still cant see the biggest jokes on Leicester, Maynard despite all your money and big name managers didn't want too join you cos he wanted Prem football, so he would rather join someone else for better prospects.

He's more switched on than we all thought.

    ohhhhh, snubbed!!

I rate Nicky Maynard a lot, but I will be glad when he goes so we can get on with it.
Hope we get money for him, or maybe a decent exchange.
