I tend to think Bale's hard work will make him successful eventually. But I can't help wondering if the hundred million dollar Bale was a specialist at something clubs with good playmakers don't need and may for various reasons not want: the one man show, able to create goals from nothing. If you're not creating them, as we weren't, you're very happy for Bale to shoot from long range. If you can create goals, players who let fly from long range more than occasionally may be seen as trying to be one-man teams, and disrupting the plan of attack.
We got a damn good deal out of Real, around £40m would have been a more realistic value. He is no Ronaldo, but is a great player and will prove it. But for the fee paid the expectation is to be as good as the very very best. And for that reason he may well be dubbed a flop. Injuries will not help, I don't think Messi and Ronaldo have been that injury prone over the years (even though M is currently out). As for Soldado...honeymoon period..will come good though.
85m for Bale was always a bit of a joke and for that reason alone I thought there was a good chance that he would be labelled a flop. Not his fault that Madrid were willing to pay that and, at the same time, sell a star player for much less. Real are a bunch of idiots, aren't they? And if hounding clubs and tapping up their players comes at a cost of vastly inflated fees for players they don't really need then long may it continue. Sorry for Bale but I will not be at all sad if the transfer "fails".
It was always going to be tough for Bale at Madrid, and the fact that he had no real pre-season makes his task that much harder. These injuries are coming on the back of him trying to push himself in a short space of time after he spent most of the summer no doubt checking his phone and speaking to his agent, when he should have been training hard and getting ready for the season.
If Bale thought his week couldn't get any worse with Marca turning on him already, it does, enter Di Maria, a stunning behind the leg scissor kick cross for an assist, followed by a stunning finish himself...and another!. If that wasn't bad enough, Di Maria celebrated his goal with a heart shape...oh dear! or (as applicable) AND latest news he's out for 3 weeks!....Woodgate II?..
I note that the Spanish press is reporting that Real will be in for Goofy, in the January TW, and that Goofy has said he would leave 'Pool like a shot. Bale and Goofy in the same squad over here would be devastating, but I'm not sure how that's going to work out at Real, especially if they get rid of another great player, like Benzema.
Di Maria is a world class player in his own right, this is why I could never understand Real's pursuit of Bale. I'd say Bale is better but for an £86m fee when they've already got a £30m-£40m+ player, madness in my opinion. Di Maria, Ozil, Ronaldo was arguably the best attacking trio in Europe, why change something clearly not broken? As for the injury, I can't help but find it a little amusing.
Not sure on his fitness as of this morning as Bale is included in the Wales squad, there again he was included last time, the buffoon Coleman would include him in a wheelchair I expect.
Bizarrely Bale was included even though Coleman accepted he cannot play. Why call him up then? He has since withdrawn though.
Why,why, why buy a player then play him out of position. Can't Ronaldo play on the right?Saying that,Bale could, last season, come at you from any position but putting him outright on the right is stupid. He ain't Cliff Jones!!!!!
Thats how he celebrated the other night , I just watched the highlights and he sucks his thumb so that picture notso posted could have been Di Maria gesturing to bale. Thought it may have been photoshoped but doesn't look possible.
What can I say to Mr. Bale? Welcome to the world of Spanish fooball. There's very little in between here, they either love you or hate you. Yes, they're impatient, unrealistic, etc. unfortunately, for Bale, he had better get used to it. Whether he had anything to do with, or not, Real payed a world record fee for him - the fans will expect the world's best player! Which brings me too this, at this moment it's only some sections of the press on his back, if the Real fans get on his back, he's really going to wish he'd never gone there!
Di Maria is wearing this years kit in my photo, look at the collar compared to the BWIN shirt, its no photoshop, I promise you.
He's not, they wear black and gold trim on their home shirts. You stirrer Notso please log in to view this image
