Let's wait and see what happens in the investigation into city. The outcome of which could push clubs (and fans)towards a breakaway. I've read a bit in the past few days that suggests fans who were against it first time around, aren't so sure how they will feel about a future super league if city get off scot free. The PL would essentially be giving the sportswashers licence to sweep up all the trophies anyway.
We were in it when we kicked back on it. Think we were even holders. Some of the other clubs whose fans kicked back on it were not. Some fans from some clubs who pushed back on it hadn't even been in Europe since decimalisation, no names mentioned.
It's going to happen eventually. Maybe not now. Maybe not for 20 years but the lure of more money always has a tugging effect that makes things happen eventually. Owners get more money if a ESL is formed, thus, they want it to happen.
It'll be probably another iteration of champions league It will IMO take clubs being willing to accept complete expulsion from uefa and heavy pressure from UEFA on every domestic league to go likewise to make a super league happen. This is about power and money yes but its about who has the power and money.
Maybe you’re getting confused or haven’t actually paid attention to what’s being talked about. We’re talking about the news out today about a new super league.. nothing to do with the one the that the fans protested about.
it does make me laugh how holier than thou uefa become when a rival competitor pops up, talking about fans and so on. Then CL final comes around and 50% of the tickets don’t go to the fans… ESl as a replacement for domestic leagues will never take off. Fans won’t allow it. But should that mean that uefa have sole rights to all other European football? Why do they have a monopoly and why can’t competition be set up? We have the premier league. The efl. The fa. The league cup. All run by different organisations just within England.
You have just revealed yourself as Simon Jordan I feel mate.. You'll get your super league eventually imo ...too many clubs have too much to lose and too many fanbases couldn't handle mediocrity if they lose success.
so if we consider uefa as a group of equal nations coming together in an organisation then it makes no sense to have different organisation just cos. however if we consider fifa and uefa to be exactly what they are, a cartel of self interested power hungry parasites living off the sport then it makes perfect sense to break its power. however..... irrespective of what uefa is or is not this super league **** is a scam by certain clubs to grab more money and more power for themselves.
for 95% mediocre is just fine. bang average, not at the bottom, not total ****. to most I talk to the sentiment is they don't care what rich club is winning what their will never win. many in fact see no difference between a club that exploits its historic advantages and following to buy success or a oil state club paying under the table etc. a lot say they can't wait till the scabs get lost but never seem to offer what English football might end up looking like the sad fact is we can look at the championship for some of the answer.
Football success was always bought .. the working class game ended long before certain clubs won the big hands at the right time. Ultimately Football fans now think they're entitled to this and that and the reality is that no fan should feel entitled to anything other than a seat for a price. It is what it is and every fan will justify their emotional decision making accordingly because it's how human beings make their decisions.. it's what I'm doing now.
What you're referring to is 'being ****', I'm sure you'll reach mediocrity some day Most clubs wanting to be a part of the ESL are used to winning most seasons. They can't all win.
