Since when has that been a thing in football ever though? I’m not arsed about the punishment, but I find the attitude that it shouldn’t be anything that hurts the fans a bit rich, when it’s never been a problem for any other form of club indiscretion in the history of the English game, but it’s now somehow a thing because it’s the self anointed ‘Big 6’ clubs who’ve been caught with their hand in the cookie jar?
I can understand your point and I readily agree that it’s not going to be easy to determine the punishment. It is going to be a difficult balancing act to get the level of punishment right. On punishing Clubs as opposed to Owners I don’t have an issue as that has been the case, namely punishing Clubs, throughout history. Did Juventus’ fans deserve relegation? No. Did Portsmouth’s fans deserve points deductions? No. Did they happen? Yes. As for upsetting the Six, I’m not bothered. Any punishment will upset the Owners of the Six. The PL has the whip hand at present due to public reaction, and so now is the time to impose any punishment. I do, however, stress that any punishment needs to be just, fair and appropriate.
Still think the obvious one is a Euro ban for a year since that was the competitions they were binning and that applies to all 12 . As for PL punishments that normally means lobbing a big wedge at someone .
I made it fairly clear couldn't remember And the point was (a)nobody is going to refuse to deduct points because the team that then wins it wouldn't want it that way. They'd happily take it. And (b) it's heightened before, albeit in a firefight league (and you added SPL too)
Trouble with that is it could have a very big effect going forward. Will the likes of Leicester, West Ham, Everton and Leeds (and whoever replaces them in the EL) sustain this country's current coefficient level? Could we drop down the ranking and loser a CL spot? (I don't know how far ahead we are atm)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calciopoli Think we should also say that that was for match fixing, this is something completely different and didn't effect results in the league.
That would be the correct decision, but everyone knows UEFA won’t do that, as it’d cost them money. It ****ing stinks tbh.
2 points 1. How the **** should i know 2, Don't think that starts for a couple of years but if it does and we are shafted by it well thats our fault for for trying to join te ESL .
they did but they were not going down so they took it domestically and appealed the European qualification side (and won) no club went down except juva. Firoitenina were supposedly going to go down the following year with a points deduction but they ended up 6th and in uefa.
Indeed, but there’s a cringeworthy irony in the fact that a plot to completely **** up the CL UEFA’s Premier competition, driven solely by greed and self interest, will see the clubs involved escape UEFA sanction to due greed and self interest.
UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin has confirmed the 12 clubs involved in last week's European Super League controversy will be punished. Ceferin: “Everyone has to take consequences for what they did and we cannot pretend nothing happened. You cannot do something like that and just say: 'I’ve been punished because everybody hates me.'”
That is very true. Not only that but the thing they said that didnt go far enough to please them was voted in unopposed in effect creating the same super league
yeah but corruption & UEFA belong together like Strawberries and cream . Spurs and blowing it . Rib eye Beef and St Emilion so did you expect anything else . I can't wait for 10 CL "group" stage games
Not really though eh. The 2 club coefficient bollocks is just that, but it’s hardly akin to the SL ****e, as you still have to qualify.
I reckon that’ll find the bin either before it actually happens or within 2 years of it starting. A truly wretched structure for that comp.
Also true but the format is very much similar and in effect the 12 could could in theory never not qualify as a consequence of the 2 coefficient clubs. Not assured but it is a jip imo. The same amount of games are required and the effect in england will be similar as the league cup and fa cup have again less time to be played.
we can but hope however UEFA FIFA love making comps bigger Oh hello here comes a 46 country World Cup .
Florentino Perez on the ESL: "I don't need to explain what a binding contract is but effectively, the clubs cannot leave. Some of them, due to pressure, have said they're leaving. But this project, or one very similar, will move forward and I hope very soon." Perez: “If we need to make changes we will but the Super League is the best project we've thought of. The partnership still exists as do the members who comprise the Super League.” He's not giving up easily is he?
