He also said he's "been in bars in Singapore after working and it is still packed in the middle of the night, watching the premier League"

Of course it is, that's the point of super League and money they want. I doubt that bar was packed to watch West Brom play Everton ffs.

Fans abroad don't give a **** about the premier League, they just watch the big teams play big games

Really? Not what I have read. The Football League have described it as a 'hijack'.

Foundation of the Premier League - Wikipedia

Clandestine meetings between Dyke and five clubs, with the owners of the top league being kept out. Hmm. Not the same at all. :emoticon-0112-wonde

Agree that they should collectively make such tweaks to avoid such speculative moves and they should do so ASAP, while the so called bigger clubs are in damage limitation mode. As for trust....it’s just business....it’s in everyone’s best interest to accept apologies and move on.

Actually, from a business perspective, what they were trying to do made sense; guaranteeing future growth in a market where you need to grow to compete....cutting out the middleman (UEFA in this case) who control you and make a handsome profit doing so. Any other industry and you’d be applauded if you could pull it off without breaching anti competition rules.

You think that if FSG pull a rabbit out of a hat and give Jurgen £100m plus to spend this summer, the fans will forgive and forget? Most will if the club moves forward.

Yeah that’ll be why the overseas TV revenue for PL rights now outstrips the domestic income.

We used to have around 1BN watching us weekly in China, when Li Tie was in our team.

Our audiences in Columbia are now huge.

It’s not all about the big games and big teams, there’s numerous reasons why the PL is loved all over the globe.

<rofl> I'd slap myself with a wet kipper to make sure I wasn't dreaming. The only way FSG would spend £100m is if they sold £200m worth of players.

Theyre is a reason Man Utd sign Park Ji-sung and Kagawa.

Back in the early 2000s, there were millions of Asian fans shouting for Beckham and Owen whilst wearing any random shirt. They didn't give a **** about the team, it was entirely about the player.

True. But if, as Big Al Shreaker now wants, the Top 6 are banned from the Prem, then 2 things will happen: 1) The six WILL form that league, 2) Try selling the broadcast rights to The Prem without them.

Rumour is each of the super 6 will lose about £8m due to the ESL debacle, with possibly further fines and sanctions. All 12 of the ESL had resigned their positions at UEFA, so now have no say in any UEFA business/competitions. It will be interesting to see if they can rejoin UEFA with the same power they had before all this.

No one wants the clubs involved to be banned from the PL now this is done do they? Had they continued with it they’d have almost certainly had a choice to make, but that would have been theirs to make. The idea they were going to be forced out was a victims narrative, this was all of their own making, and they had the choices to make, and they’ve now made the right one, albeit under massive pressure.

Shrearer just did. And there's nothing 'Victims' about it - the ****ers (including us) do need major sanctions. I'm just talking practicalities: ban the six and see how much the 14 left get for worldwide TV rights. I'm guessing it will be slightly less than is worth sating some people's bloodlust,

Smoke filled rooms if I recall...but the FA were part and parcel of it and reform was badly needed. The ESL was, frankly, elitist clubs being greedy. The only thing badly needed right now is to get the crooks out of the game - fifa, uefa, agents....and I would love to see a government roadmap that handed some power back to the fans.

They can’t do it without renegotiating the TV rights. Imagine selling the CL rights without the biggest names in European football. Like it or not, there’s a reason that most of these clubs wanted to cash in in their brands. Same goes for the PL.

He came out with that during yesterday when it was still valid to be talking about giving those clubs the choice,

No one is saying that today.

Everton pushed hard for a break from the Football League, why .... they didn't want to share the money down. Philip Carter, chairman of Everton organised a meeting in secret in 1981 first with the chairmen of man utd and Spurs and then with ITV to discuss ways of maximising the top clubs' commercial potential. He said at the time "The First Division clubs are becoming increasingly intolerant of a situation where they are required to subsidise clubs in the lower divisions at a time when they have financial problems of far greater magnitude than the clubs in receipt of the subsidies. "

Different decade, same attitude. Famous Five or Top Six, only the name changed. The desire to keep the top clubs ahead financially is one and the same.
