Bad decision in my opinion having supported a club that loves changing managers even more. It's clearly a transitional period at Chelsea and he needed at least a season, and more likely two, to ship out the older players and get a new squad playing his way. It would probably have benefitted him to not make the top four this season as it would have allowed the club to spend more next season without breaking the financial rules. Unless there is someone lined up it seems a poor and costly decision as an outsider looking in.
What a lot of these morons here don't realise is that Abramovich isn't the one actually doing the sacking. Bruce Buck and Ron Gourlay will have a hell of a lot of influence and say in it, if they tell him that Manager X isn't cutting the mustard then bye bye. Typical ignorants
This was inevitable I'm afraid, complete lack of control over senior players and I for one had no fukin idea what he was doing with his tactics,we have been awful. Also to be 20 points yes 20 fukin points off the leaders is nothing short of a disgrace, good riddance as far as I'm concerned and do I feel sorry for AVB ? Do I ****....Go and count your ££££££££££££££
Yes they do have a say. But it is Roman's club and Gourlay and Bucks plans still run by Abramovich who has the final say in the board meeting.
I find it hilarious how some of the media/fans/people were slating AVB when he was boss and calling for his head and are now having a go at Chelsea for actually doing it.
I predicted this yesterday, Lampard and his clique should be ashamed of themselves. As a gooner, I take delight in seeing Chelsea fall apart and making 4th easier for Arsenal to obtain (if 3rd place becomes out of reach) but I'm sickened by this culture of players getting managers sacked. I hope these Chelsea players can go to bed with a clean conscience knowing what they did. Lampard came across as a spoilt brat in the press. not accepting his current role. You never heard Giggs or Scholes questioning getting less playing time because they didn't mind making way for the new generation. Lampard and co just couldn't accept that it was a new era and they clearly didn't like anyone that challenged their 'authority'. Disgusting. Chelsea don't deserve to do well this season if this is how their players and higher ups treat their managers.
totally agree with this. We finished 2nd last year and that was a poor season this season is a shambles
There should be a clause written in to any future manager's contract that says if they deem it necessary to sack them in the first 12 months then they won't be due any compensation package. That would seperate the wheat from the chaff. I've got to be honest and say I saw practically nothing during AVB's short stint to suggest he was the right man for the job, be it now or the future.

"With immediate effect Roberto Di Matteo has been appointed first team coach on an interim basis until the end of the season." So, any new manager won't be signed until the season breaks - could be Jose then for you lot. I doubt you'd turn your noses up at that! I have to say I feel sorry for AVB - seemed a decent guy and the problems were as much with Chelsea's squad as with his style of management. I'm not really sure what RA expected but AVB was never gonna be a miracle worker.
