I wouldn't be happy to have it sponsored. I would prefer it to remain SJP, even if that meant the difference between having a player like, say, Cisse part of the squad or not. I would understand the competing point of view, however.

Yeah, I don't get that part. If its a foreign airline fine, but if its a sports shop that actually sells things relating to our core business (see also, The Reebok) its a ****ing disgrace. I know the revenue difference is ridiculous, but if your issue is '****ing with tradition' then why would another company be fine?

I believe the general sentiment is that we value our tradition highly: about £5M - £10m or so.

Pay up and call it what you like: the trouble with MA is that he's ****ing the whore but not paying

If just having our stadium have a sponsor means we make an extra £10mil every season, I wouldn't complain.

We all call it St James anyway and always will.

    Free money nothing I say.

I dont agree with giving it away for f*cking free.

Changing the name is not worth the money for me, but I'm a traditionalist and think history/tradition should be treasured. I suppose I'm just old school in that I think it is always important to remember where you came from, and names and relics from the past help to keep the ideals that saw the club progress at the forefront of how we move forward. The renaming issue is a comedy subject for me. I don't who it was I had a discussion with on this board, but I remember saying I'd happily guarantee there and then that this would not happen, there'd be no 10m, no sponsor and this is just another vehicle to sell his main business.

Also I'd hate any name change but I can understand why having the SDA banners plastered all over is less palatable than some classy airline or otherwise. Whether people choose to admit it or not, Sports Direct is a bit of a comedy piece to most in that people associate it with bargains and cheap products. By sticking branding up anywhere you can put it advertising the tat on sale there is clearly cheapening something the supporters hold dear to their heart. Our stadium, our mecca, our battle ground.

All said and done though moaning about it is pointless, its his club, he can do what he likes.

Well obviously I wouldn't like our stadium name to change and our owner be a bit more open to signing players, seeing as he has the means, given the direct choice. But it's not going to happen.

If meaning a company wants to attach their name to St James Park for an amount of money that gives us a steady transfer budget every season to improve the squad, I wont mind.

Get that Sports Direct sh*te down!.............speaking of which, some fans are doing that exact thing as i speak at the reserve derby game. haha

One thing he can't do is make us think of the ground as any other than St. James' Park.

That's what it will always be to me.
