(The Joys Of Having An 8 Week Old Alsatian)

Off topic he may be
But a four-legged baby
Sure does keep one right on one´s toes,:emoticon-0107-sweat
With razor sharp teeth
Reluctant to release
Either one´s fingers or nose

But oh what a joy
This small cuddly boy
Is, here on his day number three,
It´s good that we wend
Towards season´s end
For my time here´s reduced drastically:emoticon-0141-whew:

The sequence is clear
For the family here
As soon as the day breaks anew,:emoticon-0118-yawn:
It´s eat first, then play
In his special way
Which includes having us there to view

Then that blissful time
Much too short, but fine
When it all becomes too much ado,:emoticon-0113-sleep
In his slumber land
The things that we planned
Can finally be tended to

But when he wakes up
As with any pup
It´s action stations immediately,<yikes>
Find the nearest door
You can guess what for
Then it´s repeat ad lib, from verse 3

The cats he has met
And although they fret
A bit, every hour helps to cure,
And in due course
The horses will force
An interesting meeting I´m sure ;)

He´s the carrying sort
And today he thought
He´d pick up his own water bowl,
Not a great idea
With water still there
A bit like scoring an own goal <doh>

And planting of leeks
Becomes quite unique
With a special charm all of its own,
When those you put in
He pulls out again
Before you can say "Leave alone"

So I hope you´ll excuse
This meandering muse
On the joys this summer will bring,
For this old upstart
Who´s still young at heart <rofl>
And for many years yet will still sing...OTBC

Hi RBF, sounds as if you have a full-time occupation in a training programme! It also sounds as if you couldn't be happier with your newcomer! Enjoy your precious time with your new "baby" you of all the people I know deserve the happiness that it brings!

<bubbly><bubbly><bubbly><bubbly><bubbly>

You´re right dave, full time work it is, and there I was thinking I was retired. It´s been a while since we last had one of these but the experience never changes, they´re a joy to behold.

Sorry I didn´t get back to you sooner, but I was busy with the dog <laugh>

Hi RBF bor, so you have just become reacquainted with Man's Best Friend. This is the first time since a boy I havn't had a dog, mine was put down just over a year ago. Miss him and still remember him.

Remember being told when young a dog will never lie to you. If he dislikes you he shows you his teeth, if he likes you he wags his tail and smothers you with his wet tongue. Hope your alsatian turns out the latter. By the way, what is his name ?

Hello NORKIE, we´ve had a dog now for the last 35 yrs, so I can imagine how you feel, not having one yourself, they leave an awfully big hole when they´re not there.

This little fella is called Rex.

That is a good name for a dog. Bet he is the King of the Castle ! My last dog was called Rebel, characteristics of his master, I believe, never a bit of trouble unless he smelt a bitch. No holding him back then. LOL.
