Good news blues. Is it just me though or does the inside fail to do the outside design justice? Looks a bit too much white tube inside for me. Reminds me of The Reebok for some reason. Outside looks mint though.
I really like the single tier home end, which will have rail standing, assuming the league clear it for City.. Meis put a lot of work into the acoustics apparently, wanting to try and reproduce and enhance, the Goodison atmosphere. The home end will take 13,000, so it should make for a boss effect, as will the stands being so close to the pitch, which was a prerequisite, as it’s part of what makes Goodison so intimidating, compared to something like West Ham. It’s a world away from the identikit, cheap effort with a Tesco’s next door, that we were getting with the Kirkby development. I can’t believe we’ve actually got this location with that design tbh mate. Dream stuff for us Blues.
Be nice to get away from the stench of Anfield as well I suppose. Atmosphere is a huge part of the culture and moving it isn’t easy, I’ve got no doubt that if we moved the Stretford End where I stand would lose some of its culture. Not something I need to worry about with the glazers in charge like.
That's what I thought. The outside looks really nice but the inside looks very bland and nothing really appealing to the eye. The roof reminds me of a scaffolding site. Big long poles dumped everywhere.
Design or not I don't think you'll ever replicate the atmosphere of Goodison there. Part and parcel of moving to a new stadium imo - part of the club's soul never makes the trip. Agree with others that the inside looks a bit meh but the location will be class. Be a shame to lose Goodison. One of my favourite grounds.
That’s an interesting point, but I don’t think it’s black and white. Goodison is a place that has been about the only constant in my entire life, been going there since 1978 as a young kid. The memories that have been made there are irreplaceable. The day we leave I’ll defo shed a tear, However, it’s ultimately just 4 stands and a pitch. Whether the new place ‘feels’ like home, will depend on the details, and how well the club manages the transition including the choice of seats / standing for the existing 31,500 pass holders. The change of decades of the same routine will be odd to start with, but we’ll create new ones, and plenty of Blues who’ve been effectively ‘locked out’ of Goodison for the last decade, barring the scramble for obstructed view seating, will get an opportunity to get their own perch. I have a mixed view on some of the new builds we’ve seen during my lifetime. Wembley is simply magnificent compared to the old one, not a bad seat in the house at it lost nothing for me. I can’t wait to get to Spurs and see their place, as it looks (and sounds) magnificent, I’ve not heard a bad word said against it. Then you’ve got places like the Emirates with its corporate tier, which whilst s fabulous stadium, is soulless for me, due solely to the lack of atmosphere and the 2 ends being too far away from the pitch.
Arsenal and Spurs both bucked the trend among clubs moving to new grounds; neither have yet been relegated. Can Everton emulate their success? Edit; neither have West Ham, but they don’t count as they are mere tenants in the Olympic Stadium.
Some of the Spurs fans while very impressed with the facilities at the new WHL do moan about the lack of atmosphere . never mind the prices , probably due to groups of fans being split up plus an increase in "tourists" . Think on atmosphere you will only know a few years down the line when everything has settled down and the fans have got used to their new "neighbours" .
Pool fans are bare insecure...I mean all them trophies yet still go full Gaylord when the neighbours take a step in the right direction. reminds me of the Goons when we started to finish above them on a regular basis...they start caring about your team more than you do
Everything that I've seen and read about this new stadium suggests that Everton have been taking notes from our one. That's a good thing. Ticket prices aside, we seem to have got virtually everything right with it. It's not an interchangeable copy of Benfica's, for a start. I can't say that I agree with you about Wembley, though. It's too much of a multi-use venue, the concourses are all rather soulless and it's ****ing freezing during the winter. Some of that's down to the nature of the venue, of course. It could've been far, far worse.
