i think you might be correct about the pace. its not as hectic as the championship and he gets a bit more time on the ball to pick a pass. do you think this may help howson or wouldn't it affect his game unduly?
I don't see it putting Howson either up nor down. If you're going to get the best out of him you'll have him behind a striker running forward from midfield, it's where he's most dangerous and can often dictate games. I feel he's underrated in a normal CM role, not as good as he is as an AM, but I feel the work he does defensively in that ole often goes unnoticed. Certainly a better acquisition than Johnson IMO.
I think Howson will cope, he's a lot better footballer than Johnson. If you can get him playing at a consistantly good level you've got a good player, there lies the problem. Maybe Lambert can work is magic, who knows.
i think lambert will play him behind the strikers at the tip of our diamond formation. we don't always play that way in the premier league as some of the top teams would exploit its weaknesses but i would imagine that is the position he would generally play. i'm looking forward to seeing him play but its a shame he's injured till the end of february. he'll certainly be an important player for us, thats for sure, so hopefully it won't take him long to adapt. in fairness, it only took three or four games for the rest of our supposedly 'lower league' players to prove they were more than capable in this league!
I think your big test will come next year (you should stay up, unless you have a massive disaster), there's always the surprise factor when you first get promotion. You'll probably need some bigger signings than Jonny Boy and Bradley next season.
you'll get there... just need to get rid of bates first oh, and that snodgrass chap. tell you what, we'll take snoddy off your hands and you can send bates to ipswich. deal?
I'd have to agree that one, sacrifice Snoddy to get rid of Bates. Tough one but worth it in the long run!
Good comment. Players don't go to norwich to win things, its all about the money and maybe delias cooking.
i don't think he's come to norwich to win things! nobody does that, well, maybe the odd league cup!! he's obviously not moved for the money either as we can't afford big wages - in fact, our wage cap is only £15k a week. delia's cooking is good though he's moved because he wants to play in the premier league. if he does really well for us then he'll get noticed and move on to bigger things i'm sure. you never know, he may end up back at leeds one day if you get your act together behind the scenes. thats not something thats on the cards at the moment though
In fairness most players don't move to another club to win things. If they did then the likes of the following teams would have no players. Wolves, West Brom, Villa, Sunderland, Newcastle, QPR, Norwich, Swansea, Stoke, Fulham, Bolton and on and on and on......
...and leeds aren't exactly famed for winning things! at least, not in the past thirty years, barring one title. its probably difficult for leeds fans to take, but norwich is currently a step up the ladder. so is swansea, even wigan is. it probably won't always be like that but it is at the moment
Fair enough. I didn't mean to disrespect your club, but because I've family in Ipswich I have to..lol
The last team to win the proper 1st division title before sky ruined football, fair enough. But it's not about winning things with Leeds United. It's about the fans, the away trips, the no one likes us etc etc
