I think he'll be the next.. whats-his-name....???..Ronan Murray, thats it. Marriott will hardly get a sniff, will get the hump, and will be given away to a 4th division club. He will never make it in the first team as long as Mick is in charge - but we won't blame Mick or the coaches, it'll be Jacks fault for not progressing quick enough.
Stretchy I think you are wrong on this one, I am sure he will get a chance under MM next season. I would like him back sitting on our bench in place of that useless Frank Nouble, but we don't always get what we want. MM probably thinks Jack is better off getting regular 1st team games some place else rather than warm our bench, not sure I agree with that but that is how it is.
If he can't get into a lower half 3rd division club, then i don't think he's currently good enough and thats with a manager who is extremely experienced with youth and U21 players. I think 19 is easily old enough to be playing 1st team football, and if he's not playing regularly now at a decent level, he won't progress. Unfortunately MM is not a gambler, as we know he's mr play it safe, therefore he won't give youth a chance unless he's forced to. The best thing that can happen for MArriotts Ipswich career to progress, is for us to have 2 or 3 injuries to our forwards - and then MM will have to include him. I honestly and genuinely feel that he won't make it with us and that he's be another Murray and Bowditch.
Don't think you can blame Marriott for this - he's only played ten minutes and it can't possibly be a reflection on his ability... it was a cock up sending him there.
Jack has had trouble getting into the Gills side because their other strikers are playing well. We wouldn't want to bring in a striker on loan and then see him go straight into the starting eleven at the expense of someone who's playing well, I guess it's no different there.
Mick wants him to get game time rather that watch from the bench so IMO has done the right thing in getting him out somewhere else to play........age doesn't really matter it's about realising potential and some will do this earlier than others, poor Nouble gets a lot of stick but he is still fairly young.
