There is a bit of a debate going on about the clip below. From the laughter in the background, it appears that a young guy was set up in a so called sparing session. The title of the vid called the young bloke a pro, but that's not likely. Some are suggesting that he's a MMA fighter. He climbed into the ring against a man supposedly in his mid sixties. That man could be a former Italian Olympian by the name of Ernesto Bergamasco who would go on to score 31 pro wins. He is the owner of the gym. People are asking why he went so hard on the young man. Without knowing what went on before the session, it's hard to make a judgement call. Was the older gent getting his own back, or being a bully? We can't know, but it's an eye opener watching the way the old man went about his business. From the moment he raised his gloves, you could see some serious fight history in him. He knew how to cut off the ring.

A huge day of boxing in Japan today with four titles being put on the line. Three Strawweight belts are up for grabs, as well as a Junior Lightweight crown. The man considered by many to be the premier Junior Lightweight in the world, Takashi Uchiyama defends his WBA belt against Oliver Flores from Nicaragua. Uchiyama to date is unbeaten in eleven title fights and goes into the bout as a 1-40 shot. On the same program in Toyko, Ryoichi Taguchi defends his WBA Strawweight title against Luis De La Rosa of Colombia. The champ is a 1-25 chance.

In Nagoya, Kosai Tanaka puts his WBO Strawweight title up against Vic Saludar. Tanaka should have an easy night of it as he's 1-33 in betting.

The third Strawweight belt goes on the line in Osaka when the IBF champ Katsunari Takayama fights Jose Argumedo. The champ is 1-14.

If betting is any indicator, no belts will change hands.

Last night the WBA Junior Lightweight Champion looked to extend is reign against Oliver Flores. I won't spill my guts, but the end was devastating.

Newly crowned WBO Middleweight Champion Billy Joe Saunders could be in for a decent pay day or two this year. Gennady Golovkin's promoter Tom Loeffler has reached out to Frank Warren offering truck loads of cash for a clash that could see the WBA, IBF, IBO and the WBA belts put on the line. As things stand, Saunders has hinted that he's not ready for such a clash, but Warren said that the sums involved make the fight worth considering.

Spoiler alert for the Kosai Tanaka - Vic Saludar, Katsunari Takayama - Jose Argumedo & the Ryoichi Taguchi - Luis De La Rosa Title fights.

20 year old WBO Strawweight Champion Kosai Tanaka pulled off a freakish win against Vic Saludar, stopping the challenger in the 6th. Saludar jumped the champ from the outset and built up a big points lead before being stopped with a brutal left hook to the ribs. The 1-33 champion was behind on all scorecards after being dumped in the fifth. 50-44, 50-44 and 49-45. This was Tanaka's sixth fight and first defence. To pull off such a stoppage when so far behind on points was amazing.

1-14 favourite Katsunari Takayama kissed his IBF Strawweight strap goodbye when he lost on the score cards after the fight was stopped in the ninth, due to a head clash earlier in the fight. Mexican challenger Jose Argumendo, ranked 8 won a split decision 86-85, 84-87 & 84-87 over Takayama who was making his third defence of his crown. This is Arumendo' first World Title.

WBA Strawweight Champ Ryoichi Taguchi ended up pounding Luis De La Rosa into submission. The challenger couldn't get off his stool for round 10. He began well and kept himself in the fight early, but Taguchi began to take charge with booming right hands as the bout wore on. The cards were split in De la Rosa's favour when he couldn't answer the bell. He led 85-86, 87-84 & 84-87.

Always had an interest in boxing. Mostly though in the big title fights. Recently though i have attended a few amatuer shows to watch a friend of mine. Lee Mcgregor twice Scottish and one time British Champion at 52kg. He has an amazing career in front of him and has already turned down a pro contract. At 19 he is a member of the Team GB potential podium squad and attends two 4 day training camps monthly. I am no expert but this lad has a massive following and in his last fight stepped up to 54kg to fight a big punching West of Scotland Champion...Lee dismantled him in front of a partisan crowd who were on there feet from the first bell. Alex Arthur now takes a keen interest and has talked him up. I see Lee 3 or 4 times a week and he strikes me as having the drive and commitment to go to the top. One to watch out for...

This weekend sees a massed coming together of the big boppers, with two world titles being fought for, and a return to the ring of a former favourite son. Far and away the most important of these three clashes, will be the Wilder - Szpilka affair. The WBC Champ Deontay Wilder will be out to make his third defence of the belt he ripped from Bermane Stiverne in mid January last year. Wilder goes in with a massive advantage in reach, and height, but weights will be about the same. About the only thing the No 8 ranked, Polish fighter has in his favour is his southpaw stance, but that's not expected to any real problem for Wilder who'll start a pronounced favourite. It should be a one sided affair.

The other World Heavyweight Title fight (on the same card) between a couple of B grade fighters Vyacheslav Glazkov and Charles Martin IBF clash promises to be a much more willing encounter. The Ukrainian man has to spot the American a large reach advantage, he comes in a couple of stone lighter, and is shorter, but is all attack. He's like a pitbull on a mission. He had 7 fights in 2015. Both fighters are undefeated, but Martin seems to be slightly the bigger puncher. To counter this, Glazkov has never been off his feet. Despite all the disadvantages the smaller man takes into the ropes, he looks to start a slight favourite. The prize money for both men is piss poor. Being the higher rated fighter, Glazkov will get US$ 804,700 and Martin US$ 433,300. God knows what they'll be left with once the taxman, coaches and investors take their cut. Expenses have to be deducted as well.

And then we have the long awaited return of the ex champion David Haye. After three and a half years of inactivity, he'll climb into the ring against the little known Australian Mark de Mori. There's a chance that the Aussie will step into the ring at somewhere around 250 pounds which would be a massive advantage, especially if Haye shows up around his usual 215. But the word is that he'll be a lot heavier fighter now. Age and extra weight might slow him down a little, but he should be able to blast his challenger out of there in pretty quick time. But where does he go from there? Where does UK Heavyweight boxing go in 2016? From what I've been reading, the US are mapping out plans among themselves. Fury is the lineal champion and one of the two "real" fighters at the moment, the other being Wilder, but where does this leave the UK? How do they get at the other belts while keeping Furys? You can bet your life that which ever promoter wins that IBF belt, they won't be keen to send it across the pond. Martin is already talking about more American fights, while Glazkov is saying he wants to take his belt back to Russia. And in time, will other belts be stripped from Fury because he wants to fight the best and in return be paid serious money?

As you say Cyc, Wilder will be a one sided affair and it won't last long. I presume it has an 18+ viewer rating.

I can't imagine Haye will be stepping back into the ring if it's not certain he'll blast his opponent out; unless he's skint and needs a fight to get himself sorted financially. I expect him to ko his opponent fairly early to send a message.

No idea on the other fight. Might depend on who has the stronger chin. Should be all action and probably won't go the distance

Haye back in the mix and again looked good against inferior opposition. His test however will come against tall, good jab fighters again. I think Joshua will steamroller Haye if Haye looks that slow if/when they meet. Sure his power was good and he looked more of a heavyweight, but his speed looked blunted. Good hand speed but the feet looked very poor, and he isn't the fighter to stand there and trade with true heavys- he needs to be in and out.

He will be entertaining whilst it lasts though, especially if he puts himself in the mix with Fury/Joshua/Wilder et al.

Very impressive win by Haye. He had nothing to beat proved it nice and quick. I didn't realize he was so powerful though. I knew he could band, but not like that. I agree with Toppy on his defence too. Coming in with hands low, and against a powerful jab will be a problem, especially as he'll have to give a lot of reach away. I think Wilder, Fury and Klitschko if he's still prepared to put his heart into it, might be too strong for him, but I think he's as good as anyone else.....including Joshua. Young Anthony looked good against Whyte who did ok, but Haye is several classes above Dillian.

And Deontay Wilder goes on his merry way. The Polish fighter Artur Szpilko did himself proud. He at times took the fight to the champ and did some damage. Wilder lived up to his name early on, trying to do too much too soon, but as the fight progressed, he found his rhythm. Then out of the blue, he dropped the hammer in the ninth, knocking Szpilko cold. It was a shocking ko. Even Wilder went to check on the beaten man. Wilder led on points. 77-75, 78-74 & 78-74.

The IBF fight between Charles Martin and Vyacheslav Glaskov finished in the third when the latter went down twice without seeming to hit. The word is that he suffered an ACL injury and had to retire. Martin had the game though, as Glaskov appeared to struggle to get close.

Man, I love boxing. Love him or loathe him, Tyson Fury has set the Heavyweight scene alight. Not only did he and his team find a way to take the great Vlad Klitschko apart in the ring, I think it's fair to say that they also got into the ex-champ's head before they even stepped into the ring. And now he looks to be back into stride. After Wilder stopped Szpilka, Fury charged straight into the ring and got into his face. This was so planned it was funny, but like those sessions with Vlad, I think they will in the end, mess with Deontay's head space.
