Ram catches Ovill and hurts him a couple of times. Ovill more punches landed, but Champ hurting and always coming forward. Maybe Ram.

7 Ramirez best round. Ovill punching off the ropes. Closer fight but Ovill should be still in front, Pom Comm give it 5-2 Ovill.

A big day of boxing is about to unfold. Two World Lightweight Titles will go line in different parts of the planet with WBC champ Jorge Linares looking to stamp himself as the finest Lightweight on the planet, while Englishman Terry Flanagan put's his WBO version of the title up for grabs. Linares of Venezuela steps in against Mexican number 10 Ivan Cano, and is expected to be too good for the journeyman challenger.

Terry Flanagan has a much stiffer fight on his hands though when he meets the number one ranked Diego Magdaleno in Manchester. Also on the same card is the battle for the vacant WBO belt where Liverpool fighter goes against American John Thompson. Ranked 3 Smith was to fight No 2 Michel Soro, but the deal fell through and No 5 Thompson took his place.

Looks like the Terry Flanagan star is on the rise. After taking the vacant WBO Title, he destroyed the mandatory challenger Diego Magdaleno in two rounds, putting down the American a number of times with severe punching.

Jorge Linares made short work Ivan Cano, putting his opponent away in the fourth.

And the band played on in accompaniment as the UK went on it's merry way plundering world titles. Liam Smith of Liverpool battled his way to a seventh round stoppage over American John Thompson, to claim the vacant WBO Junior Middleweight Title. After being on the receiving end of a lovely jab for the first two rounds, Smith began to find his way into the fight. However, Thompson schooled "Beefy" in the fifth and looked the goods. Liam must have received a rocket from his corner because he answered the bell for the sixth, a different man. By the end of the round, "Beefy" was making mince meat of Thompson. It was all over in the seventh. Smith hunted down a desperately defensive Thompson and decked him with a thunderous shot that dumped him face first on the canvas. He tried to rise, but again slumped to the floor, forcing the ref to call it quits.

A big bangers fight is coming up next Saturday night (US time) when WBA, IBO and Interim WBC World Middleweight Champion Gennady Golovkin takes on the new IBF Champion David Lemieux in Madison Square Garden. Both of these men are huge punchers, with GGG winning 30 of his 33 bouts by knockout, while Lemieux, unbeaten since 2011 has a record of 31 stoppages from his 34 fights. The Canadian has only had the one Title fight, while Gannedy has had 14 and none have gone the distance. The thing is, both these fighters can be hit, and hit often. GGG is a pronounced favourite, while Lemieux is about 6-1. In the pre-fight chat in the clip below, a very telling moment comes at the end of the interview where GGG coolly looks into David's eyes. The gaze is not met. Intimidated maybe?

On the same program as the Golovkin - Lemieux bout, Roman Gonzalez, a man now making a big claim as the best pound for pound fighter in the world, comes up against the former three time World Champion Brian Vilorea, a man now rated No 2 for Chocolatito' WBC title. So great is the man's reputation, he goes into the fight as a tens on shot. Vilorea is better than double each way odds. Gonzalez is something else. At his last outing, he took on 3 time World Champion Edgar Sosa, a winner of a dozen title bouts. A serious fighter. Here's how he went against Gonzalez.

I liked his character too Hawk. I've seen in a number of his fights that there's a lot of glove touching between rounds. And he goes to great lengths to check on fighters he's just beaten.

And then there is the warrior known as the Shadow. He's an innovative man who's gone to great lengths to advance the sweet science, steeling his mind in a manner quite unlike anyone else in the game. Enjoy.
