Dillian "The Body Snatcher" Whyte v Lucas "Big Daddy" Browne. I'm really looking forward to this bout. I'm hoping that Lucas can make something of this fight, but the more I think about it, the less I like his chances. The weigh in was probably decided it for me. I couldn't find out the weight Browne carried into the ring against Mathew Greer, the first man Browne met since toppling Ruslan Chagaev 15 months earlier, but for tomorrow's bout he'll be a stone heavier than when he met the Uzbek fighter.
Whyte on the other hand has risen half a stone, but looks more bulked up. He doesn't look as flabby. The body snatcher is also 9 years younger. My big fear is that Big Daddy hasn't put in the hard yards for this, while Dillian seems to have worked his arse off. How good is Whyte though? He sort of rocked Anthony Joseph, but the champ really wasn't in any real trouble, and I think if they met again, A.J. would now make a mess of him. The only way I can get a bead on him, is to hold him up against Dereck Chisora. If the latter isn't all that crash hot, what does that say about Whyte? If Joseph and Wilder are the big boys and Parker just behind them, where does he fit in?
There are quite a few people messing about behind the top three. Folks like Povetkin, Ortiz, Pulev, Ustinov and Miller. And Whyte is in there somewhere, but where? Can he even beat Dominic Breazeale? Whyte has to do a hatchet job on Browne tomorrow or his bubble will burst. A lot of people don't think too much of Dillian because of his tendency to stuff both feet in his mouth from time to time, but I like him, I think he's a breath of fresh air. And I like the boy from OZ, so I guess I'll just kick back and enjoy the clash. Both have a lot to lose, especially Whyte, as he could lose both his WBC Silver Heavyweight Title and his WBC No 1 ranking behind Deontay Wilder.
