FFS. 6 picked and still can't get the ****ing winner. Jockey had a double handful 2 out and won fairly easily.
I doubt Nicky Henderson can complain about stiff fences today but Mite Bite ran a shocker for me... Well done to Tizzard for getting Thistlecrack back to form, and well done on Paul Nicholls and ClanDO, looked the winner from someway out... Great race to watch but more questions opened for the big one in March...?!?!?
Amanda picked out Clan Des Obeaux on appearance but then decided he looked a bit weak at the back so switched to Waiting Patiently and Might Bite . He is only 6 (turning 7) so will strengthen up and will be even better next year. Must have a shout in the Gold Cup now but would definitely be interested in the 2020 version
Very poor from might bite. Still a bit in shock that he went out like a light towards end of race...something must be amiss . Does nt look the same horse..
Native River ran a blinder to be third. Ground probably too lively and never in the sort of jumping rhythm that he gets into going the other way round. All in all a great prep for the big un in March.
I was hoping we would get to see Presenting Percy this week but im not sure the ground is soft enough for him to run. I think that battle with Native River in March might have left a mark on Might Bite as he doesnt look the same horse this season. Looks a wide open Gold Cup!
Just got up and watched the replays from Kempton. Didtheyleaveuoutto just not good enough and it is surely handicapping for him. But I was very impressed by the winner Mister Fisher, who quickened up really smartly and must enter calculations for the supreme (although I still like Quick Grabim). Le Bague Au Roi was poetry in motion, a superb performance. Seeing Santini run on I initially thought “4-miler” and I wouldn’t back him for the RSA just yet. Need to see Next Destination later this week if he runs. Buveur D’Air again showed he can clout one - he got away with it at Newcastle but was collared by the mare who had everything to suit her today. Hopefully this will encourage more connections to aim at the Champion Hurdle as he is clearly beatable. I can hear Laurina banging at the door of her box ..... Great work Nass in finding the King George winner and massive respect to Paul Nicholls whose patience and hard work once again reaped the rewards. Waiting Patiently very unlucky to be brought down and I hope the horse is OK. That is bad racing luck but I hope, after reflection, that connections might decide to get him out more often. Putting all your eggs in one basket and all that. Great run from Thistlecrack but no chance with the winner. Willie Mullins had 2 winners on the day but it wouldn’t have been the 2 he wanted and Ruby’s trip to Limerick served only to boost the attendance figures. Quick Grabim has been scratched from the novice hurdle at Leopardstown tomorrow and I wonder whether all is in order at Closutton at the moment? Let’s see how Footpad goes ........ Hope you all had a profitable day and are suitably stuffed with leftover turkey
