He puts the brackets in the swear words because it doesn't block it out. Stupid really cause people have the swear filter on for a reason, funnily enough because they don't want to see the swearing. If you aren't bothered then you have the swear filter off.

Dunno why he does it when he says th(o)ughts? Unless people just do it to wind him up.
