I honestly think that he anticipated the defender to get a touch and doesn't sort out his feet in time.
I haven't seen any mention of the great flicked shot early on in the game which produced a fine save.
I think Buofal should have taken a shot from there, instead of crossing it to Jay. The ball came ideally on his right foot, he should've just blasted it. If it's not going directly at the keeper, that's a goal. When Davis passed the ball to him, I actually thought 'yeeey, one nil for us' followed immediately by wtf when he decided to cross instead of shoot.
Boufal should have had a crack, if anything Jay would have had more chance knocking in the rebound. (boro miss was far worse)
Unless I'm mistaken the Boro chance hit Jay's shin. He got there too early, but was in the right place, which is more than can be said about Long, at the moment. But yes, Boufal should have shot, at Stoke.
Even the end of last season he was getting into the right positions. He has lost the blistering pace, but I still carry hope that his instincts are still intact..... just need his confidence taking a boost......soon.

Could I ask a hypothetical question of those of you who have written Jay off? Will you still feel the same if he has scored, say, 5 goals by the end of the season?
I feel a bit sorry for him. Our play does not suit him at all. Must be quite frustrating trying to find form in a team you no longer fit.
