Adam May And Louis Dennis Score As Bournemouth Are Beaten.

Louis Dennis continued his scoring streak for the reserves by netting a brace in a 3-0 victory over Bournemouth.

Both his goals – one of which came from the spot – arrived in the second half at the Cherries training base.

Adam May had earlier given the Blues an interval lead with a fine finish in a friendly that saw several first team players get useful minutes under their belt.

That included Andy Cannon and Viv Solomon-Otabor, who continued on the path back to full fitness.

And after a chanceless opening to the contest, it was the visitors who managed to break the deadlock.

Cannon laid the ball off for Haji Mnoga and the academy full-back’s cross was met sweetly by MAY, who fired into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

Bournemouth then finally had a sniff at the other end, although Alex Bass comfortably dealt with Nnamdi Ofoborh’s effort.


Pompey were causing plenty of problems down the right, with Cannon trying to make the most of driving runs from Mnoga and Bradley Lethbridge.

But the midfielder was flagged narrowly offside in the first instance and then saw a strike gathered by Mark Travers.

Dennis was looking a lively presence up front and fired wide following good work from Solomon-Otabor and Brandon Haunstrup.

Mnoga and Cannon then combined to carve open another opportunity, although this time he cleared the crossbar.

It took 36 minutes for the Cherries to have their first decent opening, only for their trialist to roll a shot past the post with just Bass to beat.

They were then counting their blessings when Lethbridge squared for Dennis, who could not quite keep his attempt down.

Pompey extended their lead on 52 minutes after Mnoga’s run into the box was crudely halted by Tom Hanfrey.

It was DENNIS who stepped up to take the penalty and he comfortably stroked the ball past Travers.

Solomon-Otabor came close to adding a third goal moments later, only to see his effort deflected narrowly wide.

May then played a tremendous pass across to Lethbridge and after receiving the ball back, struck the post.

It had been a quiet afternoon for Bass, but he made a tremendous save to deny Ofoborh following a mix-up between substitutes Eoin Teggart and James Whiting.

And the Blues made sure of victory on 76 minutes, as DENNIS collected the ball from Lethbridge, advanced on goal and beat Travers.

Bournemouth had looked more dangerous since the interval, but the visitors still ran out comfortable – and deserved – winners.
