Had "The Great Dane" still been in charge,no doubt your post would have been of a less conciliatory nature, aye.
Bang on Rod!! I though Monk would have given some of the first teamers at least a 20 min run out. Very disappointed and I do hope this was a one off, as if this is our best coming through we're in the ****.
The blame for last night's fiasco must be laid at the door of whoever arranged the fixture. Any one with an atom of commonsense knew we weren't going to put out many of the first team with a bigger test against Reading today. The derogatory remarks about the youngsters by some is a bit over the top as well. They will not be introduced to the first team en masse but will get the occasional step up when it is deemed they are ready to benefit from the experience.
The pro/anti Laudrup comments are becoming tiresome and are wasting my time and I'm sure others by having to skip past them. The man has gone, he's in the past, forget him.
Bournemouth did the double over Reading last season and finished 10th in the Championship. They were both going to be tough matches . To then put out such an inexperienced team against a good Championship side has backfired - with more damage than good being done to the youngsters. I agree with you that the fixtures should never have been arranged in such a way - a learning point for next seasons preparation.
For us to put out some sort of team against decent opposition? Why on earth are we playing two matches so close together? Oh that bit was beautiful, highlight of the night. His celebration. I totally agree. Trust me, I've watched this Bournemouth team enough to know that they are actually really quite good. It can't have done any of those youngsters any good to get hammered last night, they looked really frustrated and they were getting torn apart by the crowd. Its just a friendly though so hopefully their confidence won't be knocked by it.
A disrespectful decision (for fans and Bournemouth) to play so many youngsters and so few first team players last night.
Quite right Bob totally disrespectful, fans being charged to watch that selection and team performance is bordering on Fraud! The club should have the decency before hand to let the fans know it was more or less an under 21 side that was to be fielded. We learned nothing of the first team squad last night. Monk has a hell of a lot to learn he'd better be a quick learner.
At what point did it become a Swans XI? I am sure it wasnt described in all of the pre match advertising or on the Swans website as such.
You are right I never saw it advertised as that once. I was planning Bournemouth stay the night and up to Reading for todays game. Was forced to work friday, think I will thank my boss for helping me not waste any money.
Friendly: Bournemouth 3-1 Swansea XI An inexperienced Swansea City XI lost their pre-season friendly at Bournemouth on Friday night. Marc Pugh opened the scoring for the Cherries, heading home Simon Francis's teasing cross. Forward Pugh added a second on half-time with a low shot from the edge of the area that found the bottom corner. Brett Pitman added a third from the spot when Angel Rangel handled, but new Swans signing Jefferson Montero pulled one back with a deflected shot. Montero and fellow Swansea senior Nathan Dyer had started on the wings, but the visitors had included Scott Tancock, Alex Samuel and Lee Lucas from the Under-21s squad. dunno if it was Swansea or Swansea xi
Didn't know we had a canine mascot at the Liberty Vetch? when did that happen then?..................
