According to google Boston has the 20th largest police force in the US and it has 2,144 officers. When you factor in all the other police forces in Mass and the state police etc I am sure that Mass could put tens of thousands of cops on the streets all armed. Then there is the Mass national guard of course which would help out in a pinch as well.

Lucky there isn't two terrorists really then. Have they called Rambo and Arnie in yet?

Not sure but they will call in the military if necessary. They brought M1 Tanks to wako and they brought special forces troops against the last couple crazy bunker people we had.

Do you not get the impression that it's just way over the top for one bloke?
To me it seems that America likes nothing more than to show off their weaponry, whether it's Hollywood, the forces or the police.
There's probably more armed coppers in that town than we sent troops to the Falklands.

I dont really see it that way. Boston is a big place and it will take hundreds of cops searching for him to find him. Sure they have automatic weapons but there are litterly millions of automatic weapons in civilian hands in the US, so it would be a little silly to see cops carrying them as a sign of being over the top.

I mean only 255 British soldiers died in the Falklands, we have almost twice that who are killed by guns every year in Chicago alone. In fact last Saturday 26 people were shot in one evening in Chicago. New York holds our record number for murders in the US and that was 2,245 people.

I see this as over the top as far as coverage goes. We are going crazy over 3 dead and 178 wounded when far more than that were killed and wounded by gun violence on that same day in the US and that didnt even make the news.

I'm sure your right about the numbers of armed police and it doesn't surprise me that the media are treating it like an all-action movie. Afterall they were the willing tools Baby Bush used to make the American population ultra-paranoid about terrorists hiding behind every lamp post.

Probably shouldn't comment on this as had a few beers but am glad if they have found the people who actually did this and won't use the bombings as an excuse to go after Iran/North Korea or whoever the next strategically important 'whipping boy' might be. R.I.P to all those in Boston lost their lives at the hands of these sick bastards

I don't think they ever would.

From the off you could tell it was far too small fry to be a proper international terrorist incident.

Yeah I agree mate felt that all along. They had a similar thing with the Olympics in Atlanta? I think. I hope one day the US sees sense and decides to update its gun/ munitions laws according to the century we are actually in rather than the 19th/18th century.

It think it compares favourably with the ostrich posture of successive British governments who have continued to let radical Islam and terrorist groups flourish on our soil. The danger posed by these terrorist cells and the phenomenal cost of surveillance for this subhuman scum is the scandal of our times.
