2 things bluff. 1. I dont know when the tello twit was put out it maybe changed. 2. guillem balague lolzylol. hes signed already if he says hes not coming
They're not taking any more bets meaning its very highly likely its a done deal. According to twitter of course There is various stuff on Egyptian TV also saying he's going.
haha! Balague was early with the calls on Aspas and Alberto in the summer though. normally a better pulse of what's going on in the Spanish world of things. We shall see.
If you give one million Guillem Balague's a typewriter, and instruct them to spout out their collective inside knowledge, eventually one of them will come up with a rumour that turns out to be true. But really that can be said of most journalists. I'd like Tello as he is a forward that can play wide as opposed to a winger that can play up front ie. Moses. I really dont see why we need a winger other than to say we have one on our books. We played with two wingers and a lone striker last season and that was utter rubbish. We've inverted that triangle and now we have an attacking number 10 (Coutinho) and two strikers (SAS). The problem with giving BR options is that he is forced to accommodate them. Downing played nearly every game. I'd rather solidify the 4-3-3 that is works fine WHEN all first team members are fit OR we have suitable replacements in those areas. For this we need an immediate CM that is an upgrade on Allen, a proper LB, and maybe a striker to backup SAS that is better than Aspas. We dont play with wingers ergo we dont need to buy a winger unless we plan on changing the formation. Moses is a winger and he's been dire. Options are useless if they change the game plan so much that we can't adapt. You can't have only one winger on the pitch so we have to have two. That leaves the midfield exposed so we pack it with three central MF players. What's left? Either we play with 3 at the back again disastrously or we play with one isolated striker at the front. That hasn't worked to our favour for years. We also can't play a rigid 4-4-2 as its easily dismantled by top teams. A loose 4-4-2 can lose control of the middle of the pitch too.
He's been played next to Suarez as a forward all year. His good performances have come from that position. He does overlap in front of Johnson but that is mostly his instincts kicking in to drop back and pick up the ball. I haven't been seeing him try many crosses either.
nothing imminent means something in rodgers speak. I think it means i didn't actually ask where we were at with deals cos i woz busy... or the dog ate my homework or something. LFC need to buy earlier rather than later here...
ITs a modern role. he is trying to get advanced of suarez and make runs in the right side channel for through balls. Its a good run to make when you know someone like suarez is looking for it. He breaks fast from defense and starts from a wide position on the right but as we have the ball he is not staying wide but moving in and ending up central. the crosses he has tried have all been poor, he's got to the byeline and even with a cut back pass has done poorly.... its something that needs to improve.. but its better than last year and way way better than early this season.
Fully agree MITO. However I stand by my point that he isn't playing in a traditional Downing winger role. No one is in this team. And I really like that because we aren't West Ham (no disrespect) or the likes that just boot it up to the lone striker in hopes of a header. He starts wide but moves in with the ball instead of towards the corner flag. That isn't something I feel we need, otherwise we could just stick Moses in his natural role. A CM that is stronger than Allen is needed. Someone more creative and dynamic. Gundogan or Sahin would have been perfect. Sahin never got a proper run of games because BR was persisting with Allen at the time and in hindsight may have been the reason he didn't excel. He looks decent again now. Lucas is adequate for a top 4 push when he has the right players around him. When Gerrard mopes and Hendo/Allen emulate Stevie, he looks poor. When we play well he looks top class.
Since the plan of letting Neymar adjust to European football as backfired because he's become Barca's number one player, we might have a chance of getting Messi now. Would he work alongside Suarez (who recently served a ten game ban for biting) though...?
My point is that he doesn't play as a winger. I've never seen him beat his man to cross the ball in the corner. Most of his forays into the box come from him cutting in before the box and making a forward run as opposed to getting in from the sides. That's all. Lately he has also played off the shoulders of defenders. Look at his disallowed goal vs. City. Not a typical position for a traditional winger. Even Moses has been played more as a 10/inside forward than an out and out crossing type winger. Its a positive that they know how to find space and make runs on the flanks. But until Enrique comes back from injury and (if) Johnson comes back into form we won't be using that playing style overwhelmingly. So I ask what the point in buying a traditional winger is? Get a wide forward like Tello instead of just getting someone for the width on paper. I'm not the man in charge though... So we will see what the plan is.
I have... he did so v city.... terrible cross then. but you are right the run he's been making is getting in advance of suarez... and someone has to do it so its good.
Think Salah and Tello would be excellent additions to the squad, and both would improve us.Think we do need cover in midfield and right back though, I know we have injuries but those area's look a little thin. I Would add, why would Rogers reveal any potential signings? We all know Levy would be in there like Michael Jackson in a 10 yr olds bedroom
