The Gaffer's take. A fine performance and while not the open free style play, we controlled the game for most of the time. The Clarke Burns combo didnt really click 1st half. Hirst such a strong presence and ran his socks off, and struck his goal superbly, with a hint of deflection prob. Broadie played ok but not been at his best, tends to lose control of the ball, maybe down to his creative flair & long legs! Maybe rest him for Watford, and think his good Wales game took it out of him. 2nd half Morsy got into gear with Taylor passing and controlling the middle. Davis & Clarke grew in stature and had strong attacking runs. Both could have scored. I enjoyed Hutchison coming on and showing what he can really do. Fine goal and even better acrobatics! Really enjoying his game. Great tactical sub, and not 4 subs this time! He took his goal sublimely, fine composure in spite of some fu..wit blowing a whistle. Tbh Boro looked wayward and werent the force we thought, too many 1st teamers out. But Burgess and Wolfenden were strong and did several fine clearances - a few decent Boro efforts gave Hladky the chance to shine again, and what fancy footwork! A word for Jackson, his pace and startling runs worry tired defenders, and helped towards a very competent 2nd half away match performance. The Morsy yellow was silly, and perhaps he could have been subbed at 90! But thats the way he plays. Rest him at Watford, and let Luongo & Taylor rule the roost. A fresh Morsy will ruffle the Canaries feathers next weekend. The joyful singing at the end with players going over to join in, shows the fantastic spirit of our wonderful club. We are enjoying the ride!
The Boro forum described the match as an Ipswich smash and grab, which when you consider that Boro had just one shot on target the entire match and Town controlled the game for long periods is total bollocks. I was a bit concerned as Luongo was missing but Taylor fitted in with Morsy and dominated midfield and only their No. 9 Lathe latt ? posed any kind of threat and that was only in the early stages of the game. So a raucous party like atmosphere in the away end fuelled by pints of Bud at £4 90 at The Riverside which is a really nice stadium made for a great day out.
Well done FM, I am always surprised at how different sets of fans see a game! As they say, the camera never lies. It was by all accounts a very complete, professional away performance.
