We have done this one to death. The morale in the squad, the trust and faith in the manager from the players and the fans has been done harm if he can’t live up to the hype he’s created. Luke Chambers came out and said the club is being glued back together by Lambert and Evans and so the delusion continues. Getting them into battle mode is what’s needed instead of blowing smoke up their arses. Win the next two though and it’s a different story entirely. The place will be buzzing and it’ll be ‘In Lambert we trust’
What worries me is this “we’re all ok there’s nothing to worry about attitude”.We are at the stage where we are battling for our lives and lack a proper leader prepared to put up a bit of a fight.FFS! I was never in favour of the Burley/Butcher ticket but I’m pretty sure in these circumstances they’d be rallying the players better.
You can have all the fight, battle, determination as you want... you can give 100% every game, which might get you the odd draw here and there..but, the problem we have is, is that we have a poor squad, and who just aren't good enough. You can train your players to defend, to be in the right place...but you can't train creativity, which we have absolutely zero of. Let's face it, if we don't win these next two games, and we don't bring quality in, then it's game over, period.
Such a shocker, which dramatically changed the game. Such decisions and luck always seem to go against the bottom/low end clubs! Maybe thats in the mind...
....the whole question of whether or not it was a penalty is pretty academic given that, once again,we didn’t score.
I believe you make your own luck. It might be soft but (it looks to me as though) he’s impeded the jump. It could easily have been five if it wasn’t for a good showing by Gerks, and we failed to take any of our own chances so no excuses.
It's a penalty in my eyes and bloody thick re Spence. Soooo naive. I'm hurting like hell with all things ITFC - however this season really sums up my support for the manager pre this season - thought he held together the fort bloody well on naff all budget, and have to say I am not remotely surprised how quickly we've gone to ....... post him leaving. Such an underrated job done for a prolonged period of time it's not even funny. However, that's been and gone / and it's up to Evans what he wants to do January. What do you want Marcus? If we go down, you're in a mess also.
Yep Mick did great unless you actually paid good money to watch the team, but let’s not open that can of worms again, please!
Haha paid plenty of money going to games cheers, cannot beat a moment like Watford away 95th minute. Okay sure flipping it other days were absolutely dour. Went to a good 50 + games that period though so went to plenty. End of the day, it's a results business 1 and entertainment 2. I'll die by that mantra. In an ideal world, I want BFJ sexy football with triangles peeing all over teams. In reality, with Evans spend - ........... yes................ Too many fans, not just Ipswich fans, want sexy footy this that and the other and stick their nose in the air at direct / anti football. Not just on about Mick here - look at the Boro lot being arrogant as hell re Pulis stuff this season. Sure, maybe ££££ and might expect more but their top 5 jesus christ - the aim of the game is to bloody record 3 points! I mean - if you put it the other way - if ALL clubs in the division play the game free flowing / semi decent football - the sides with the most ££££ will pretty much always come higher up! WBA fans were delighted when they sacked Pulis last season - they weren't in the dropzone then! Perhaps they'll bounce back first time but dear god it's a concept I find weird at times - entertainment over results! Lets hope we get the results first - survive ( yeah right ) and then can add style next season. Unfortunately, too many teams have been in the top flight now compared with 25 years ago. Nowadays you have many a club with billionaire owner with fans remembering yesteryear. Take the current champ - Us / Leeds / Sheffield x 2 / Forest etc etc etc. Changed completely footabll.
Would be interesting to have seen how both Hurst and Lambert Would've done with the squad we had last year. Surely no worse than Mick
Oh god based on what Hurst has done this season I dread to think what he'd have done last season. No worse than Mick? Christ alive. Forums. Dangerous entities.
Have to agree Stretchy, anyone with an ounce of creative ability could have done a lot more(and won more games) than Mick did with the players available to him.
It's all well and good saying ' Lambert may have done better, Hurst may have done a better job with the squad ' - but Hurst certainly wouldn't have had that squad in the first place. Garner + Waghorn were great spots - would they have moved for Hurst? Celina on loan / CCV on loan - would Hurst have had them contacts!? That's not a pop at Hurst, but regarding loans - certain managers are trusted in the game with various players. Contacts take time to build up. They wouldn't have even had the squad in the first place..... We often had 7 + injuries the entire campaign last season, it was an absolute shower in the end, and still came 12th. Waghorn didn't want to leave. He was happy to stay, although sure he's gone to Derby for more ££££ so doubt he's too upset. Hurst made the decision to sell, due to Evans saying if he wanted to bring various players in he had to sell. So fair enough really for Hurst - wanted his own stamp. Sure, last season we'd have maybe played better football ( people forget in December we were the second top scorers in the league and before McGoldrick was killed by Loovens / that late Wendy goal we were going about the season quite well ) As for ' won a lot more games ' - REALLY? We won 17. So by a lot, we'd have won 23/24 games!? I don't see that.
