I used to, but I don't believe in Cameron's hard-line government. I would rather see a government that works for everyone, not 'Rich get Richer' The British public have just put him back in power
But Boris Johnson is a mayor, he doesn't make any tax cuts for millionaires. He might influence council tax but that's it, and trust me where ever you live and regardless of how much you earn that's always going to be unfair.
Chiswick, Morden, Ealing, Earl's Court, Hammersmith, Finsbury Park, Stoke Newington, Hackney and Turnpike Lane. i left London 2.5 years ago
He is now a member of the cabinet, which means that although he is currently a minster without portfolio he is being groomed for high office of some description. He has made his views known on many an occasion, and i'm afraid they don't have a great deal of sympathy for anyone under the upper middle class level of society that the Conservatives cater for. The difference between him and the other fat cats is his philosophies are a lot more radical.
I see all the Labour 'heavyweights' are now saying what most thought about Miliband when he was elected, by the Unions, ahead of his much more inclusive older brother. Rickster, Where do you think Labour went wrong in last week's election. To left wing or not enough ? Or are others (obviously not like you and MTG) who didn't vote for Milband just 'unintelligent'.
Party politics all over the world is about personalities, as opposed to policies. Milliband just wasn't the major leader that we hoped for, any more than Major, Hague or Duncan Smith. And Cameron ? Well I think he has the charisma of having been in the job for 4 years which gave him easily enough to get past Milliband. The trouble is, he only stands for the materialistic capitalists among us. We are about to return to the eighties (so I may go write some synth pop tunes ) As for Johnson - don't get me started…
'As for Johnson - don't get me started…' Gary, Pete or Junior ? 'any more than Major, Hague or Duncan Smith' Think we could add Foot and Brown to that list Rickster. From afar I think Chuka might be the best leader of your lot.
The trouble was that labour didn't win over those on the fringes of the party, the undecided and those who know nothing about politics. Labour need a leader like Farage who will appeal to ordinary people and who won't be torn apart by right wing media, meta ding up to them instead. Andy Burnham or Yvette Couper at the moment would be the best candidates
'the undecided and those who know nothing about politics' MTG Bloody hell, you sound like I did many years ago. You will learn, in time, it's only your opinion and no better than anyone else. 'who won't be torn apart by right wing media' - The BBC, right wing ? 'Andy Burnham or Yvette Couper at the moment would be the best candidates' As someone who doesn't share your political views I hope your right.
Very much so RP. And Kinnock, who was bulldozered by Thatcher. When you have inept leaders in the main parties it usually results eventually in an overhaul of the system and a resurgence (e.g NEW Labour, Cameron), which is what is needed now. Personally I would like to see the return of Tony Blair, but I realise I may be in the minority there
When discussing the economy I always ask my “opponent” two things Do you have difficulty in running your own household budget and if so how difficult do you think it is running a country and secondly How much money does the government have? The first is to try and get them to consider the magnitude of the task and the answer to the second is nothing. The only money the government has to spend is that which it collects from taxes. With that money they have to pay for everything and if they haven’t got enough then they borrow it. The key to this equation is the number of employees in public sector or government jobs. In Labour’s hey day this figure was approaching 50% but is now down to about 35%. Cowperthwhaite I believe recommended 15%. To me the issue is one of common sense i.e. you can’t spend more than you earn as eventually the lenders will say enough is enough. We were approaching that stage and the situation was made worse by the world financial crisis. In this world there are the have and the have nots that’s a fact of life so I don’t accept the soak the rich argument. It is a fact that the top 1% of earners already pay 35% of total income tax . The remedy is to increase revenue and decrease costs and I believe as did the electorate that the Tories have the best grip on how to achieve that. The NHS is unsustainable and this must be addressed. After that I agree it comes down to personalities. Boris and Cameron are intellectual Eton chums with Boris firmly believing he is the better man. His greatest asset is the common touch i.e. he can make people laugh and take them along with him even when making unpopular decisions. Boris is without doubt positioning himself to be the next Tory Leader. Don’t worry Banksy only a fleeting visit
I'm not about the BBC but the daily mail and the sun in particular, both owned by the biggest **** on the planet (now the witch of Thatcher is dead) Rupert Murdoch. I think that the in times of a recession (caused by the banks and not labour) the richest 50,000 or so by paying their tax could easily eliminate the £12 Billion of welfare cuts that will cause the desperate millions to be in poverty, more protests, more violence and more crime as an unavoidable consequence. My biggest issues with the Torys at the moment are: They want to scrap the human rights act so we are open to suppression and exploitation against our will without legal protection. And the EU referendum, I'm worried that the zenophobics and racists will vote us out of the Union at diabolical cost to my and future generations.
The recession was caused by the banks lending money which the borrowers were unable to repay. Who is at fault the person making the loan or the person failing to honour their debt. The world cannot exist without banks even if they are less than scrupulous. As regards benefits they are not a right, they exist to support those in need. The problem is that they have to be paid for by the tax payer. That's you and me. There has to be a balance of what we can afford. Clearly in the past that balance has become out of kilter. When you compare what else is going on in the world I don't understand why people in this country feel as bitter as they do. They don't starve and they have free health care. Life isn't perfect but its a damn sight better than elsewhere. Personally in life I have never sought to blame others for my predicament I have endeavoured to sort it out myself.
For some reason locked away in your tiny mind you decided to pick on me as I was "negative and boring". That's fair enough I can agree to disagree with anyone. The difference is I believe everyone has the right to their point of view, you don't unless it accords with yours. I am on several forums but I have never met anyone quite as vindictive as you . Yes you are a bully Banksy but I notice a clue one another thread vizThink they are the big corporate boxes for, pissheads like Banksy to have a party in. Don't worry I am now off again as I cant be assed to waste my time dealing with the likes of you. You have however spoiled the diversity of views which should be held amongst all football fans,
