The Italian returned home early from Liverpool’s tour of the USA with a shoulder injury, and has been deliberating over a possible £14m switch to Sunderland.

The Wearsiders would ideally like a decision from Borini this week, but Liverpool are keen not to part with the 23-year-old until a suitable replacement has been identified.

Borini fuelled speculation he would be moving to the North East by ‘favouriting’ a Tweet confirming Sunderland’s £10m signing of Jack Rodwell from Manchester City on Tuesday.

Well if claims of 48 hour decision is true it means we will know either way today. I don't believe it's Liverpool holding up the deal I think they think 14 mil is too good to turn down.

Don`t understand that bit. Makes a bit of a mockery of accepting the offer and goes against everything that`s been said.

Strange

---------------------------Wickham/fletcher------------------------

Borini --------------------------Gomez---------------------Johnson

-------------------------------Rodwell-------------------------------

-------------------------------Cattermole---------------------------

Right that's those 5 sorted... Now let's get the defence done!!

I like the look of that TBH. Rodwell will get box to box. Cattermole can mop up behind him.

Glue man at left back and billy the fish at right back with Wes and the Virgin Central. And Don Vito in goal....

From the liverpool echo, reluctantly selling, coz they only have 3 strikers on the books

I don't understand how that can be right? How can the accept a bid and give us permission to speak to the player, but say that we can have until they find a replacement. That's not our issue. I thought it was the shoulder injury that was holding things up. Either way we need to know one way or the other ASAP.

A club can delay a transfer IF the other club agrees as well

I'd have it slightly different. I'd prefer Catts sitting a little further back, working closer to the back four.

maybe its both? maybe liverpool are delaying cause there trying to find a replacement but borini is delays aswell cause hew might think well i still might have a shot here to prove myself if they cant find anyone better

Liverpool must have been convinced they had a replacement in Remy for Borini, that's possibly one explanation GPoppa

Aye possibly.

Not sure we shouldn`t shop elsewhere now. Dragging on and now doubts from the club and the player as to whether it will happen at all.

I think Gus is right. Deadline on decision or we call time on this one.

yer he was right to wait as long as possible though cause the work needed to do to bring him into the squad has already been done

Deadline for sure, the money thing has settled now and people have accepted the price. Gus Poyet obviously thinks he started something at Sunderland and he wants him to come back and finish it.

Sunderland have priced most other clubs out of a move for him I'd imagine, with a £14m bid. I think other teams may have took a shot at £10m, but now it looks like either you lot or Liverpool and Rogers has history of hanging players out to dry then fetching them back in from the cold, like he did with Henderson. You lot can't afford to wait while he fumbles about.
