SSN: A couple of papers are suggesting that Sunderland are close to landing Liverpool defender Sebastian Coates on a season-long loan. However, if Coates does join, it would mean that Gus Poyet cannot get his Anfield team-mate Fabio Borini on a similar deal, as Premier League rules forbid clubs from taking more than one loan player from any one club. Sunderland remain interested in Borini but the move has dragged on for some time and Poyet is said to want an answer in the next couple of days or he will look elsewhere.

I believe that we'll either get Borini in the next 2 days or go Coates & Kalou instead. Coates solves quite a few problems & this option leaves £8m of the Borini money for a creative midfielder.

Personally, I'm bored of Borini now. Drop him & Liverhampton & move on...

Go for Welbeck on loan instead, thar move works for everyone, Welbeck gets a shop windows and regular football and we get a class player who knows the club.

I agree forget Borini now, in 5 years time the lad will be a no one imo. He is going to spend the rest of his career sitting on benches with his current attitude.

It doesn't work for us!

That's a terrible idea, I'd rather keep him than send him out on loan.

I wouldn't mind Podolski on loan. He tends to play in that inside left position and knows where the goal is. Very unlikely of course.

But your manager has already told him he is not going to play. So its better to get him in the shop window so you get top dollar for him when he does go.

Makes sense, apart from the fact he's got 2 years left on a contract, no matter how he plays he'll be going for less next summer.

No brainer for me, we sell him or keep him.

I saw this theory, written by a SAFC supporter, and printed as a comment in the Echo.

"By the way for all you know it alls regarding the Borini saga, the problem is this.
Liverpool still owe us 14million from the sales of JH & The Ming, an agreement has been made to give us Borini in exchange for that 14million.
The stumbling block is the scourge of football these days and that is Borini's agent who is due 2million as his part of the bargain.
Liverpool and ourselves refuse to pay that and the only way around this is for Borini to compensate his agent, or for him to actually sack his agent.
This is the reason we can now look at another Liverpool player on loan as in principal Borinni is ours, just the leach of an agent wants his blood money. HONESTLY
FTM"

The conjecture is quite believable, and may be what Poyet alluded to a couple of weeks ago, when he tried to explain why the saga has dragged on.

It is viable, but just another theory ultimately. Wonder if we'll ever know for sure what has actually gone on?

I'm buying that all day

Thought it would be a bit too easy for a ttat guy like you Bri to find out if they still owe you £14m!

Henderson and Mignolet, one bought for £15m last summer, the other bought for £20m 3.5(?) years ago. Seems a **** deal if they still owe you £14m of that.

Makes a bit of sense. Do they really still owe us £14m? Is it dependent on the players moving on or a balance on the purchases?

It's probable Liverpool still owe SAFC from the Hendo sale which took place in June'11. I think the basic fee was said to be around £15m and the balance of around £5m was add-ons. So Liverpool and England appearances could take a few years to convert to £m owing to SAFC. The Mingolet fee could easily be spread over 3 or 4 years. But £14m owing to SAFC might be stretching it a tad.

It's just got to the point where I'm pretty dismissive of everything except cold hard quotes fella.

Poyet did say on Saturday that a decision on way or another would be made in the next day or two. We are now on Tuesday and still nothing. We really are looking quite stupid here. Just pull the plug on this deal on move on. This club is bigger than any player ****ing us around...we should be calling the shots not him

The whole reason Welback has no manu future is that he wants to be an out & out striker. Coming in off the wing for us doesn't work for him either. Also, his wages are astronomical. Leave him for Arsenal or Everton. They can afford to pay him loads, not us...

Borini will regret not moving to us but it may not be his fault.

Sums the whole saga up. I dont think it makes us look stupid, until all the facts come out

I really doubt if sacking the agent to avoid his fee is legal. Afterall, he was representing Borini under the terms of their contract, at the time that the deal was done, so is legelly entitled to his share of any fees paid. Whether this supposid contra deal actually consititues a fee being paid that he's owed a % of, or if it's covered in the terms of the Borini/Agent contract, is a different matter.
