From what I've seen so far, Borini could be classified as an Inside Forward in the old money but he is certainly not a striker. He reminds me (from his positioning) of a cross between Ian St. John and Kevin Keegan but he certainly can't/won't lead the line
No he won't. Which leaves us with a conundrum. Of our 5 forward players only one has played successfully as a striker but he will not be picked. I can only assume that BR believes that he now has (with time & training) the players in a front 3, middle 3 & first choice full backs to make up the goals of one prolific striker. Have to see. Edit: Meant no he isn't.....
frank, I just can't see it happening with the front 3 we had at WBA. Even if he swaps Downing for the new lad I don't see it working. BUT I can see Borini and Suarez feeding off Carroll. From last night's match I have a question. Did he play Spearing and Adam to showcase them?
It has been mentioned but has he also left Carroll out of al Europa games on purpose? Don't buy the light twinge theory. We shall see by the next game or on Sunday.
Better display from him today in my opinion. There was a couple occasions when he ran clear and with some confidence he should have taken them on, our Suarez could do better. He put a lot of effort in and tracked back well.
I like him, clever player works his bollox off, excellent movement tonly thing so far is his touch as been off on one or 2 occasions.Mustnt forget hes 21
I actually thought he was poor today while watching the game, however just watching MOTD again and realised he actually created some good chances and played well. Should have scored in the first half, then set up Suarez for a good effort and Johnson with a clever touch. Needs time to settle but I think he'll be a good signing and can get 10-15 goals a season.
Thought he had his best game so far. like I said before, in the 2nd half, he broke free on 2 occasions and just seemed to lack a bit of confidence. He should hopefully score chances like the one in the 1st half, although great ball from Sterling.
