Three different players with various abilities which we would all love rolled into one. But then we would not be able to hold onto him as Real or Barca would buy him at the drop of a hat for huge money.
Parker. Fletcher had only one chance on his wrong foot. Ok so he should've done better but, aside from that, what did he do wrong? It was his only poor touch in a high pressure situation in his first game for months. Altidore May gave got stick for it but we'll never know. Hypothetical is pointless. A heavily left rooted player in the box tried to get in on his strong foot and miscontrolled it. Nothing else. The game us easy when you're in the stands. Altidore has been poor all season. Fletcher has hardly played. He looked good on the ball all except one touch.
83 the quote I saw was he said all he knows is he's going back to Liverpool at the end of the season. Not that his aim was For that. It was a very "grey area" comment from memory. I'd love him here and Fletcher. Altidore should be sold imo
Fletch may have had the basic fitness for the half hour or so he played, but he didn't have the sharpness. He's still a bloody good player though and with a few more games should be back to his best. I'd play him up front with Borini and let Jozy back up Fletch and Scocco back up Borini.
That's exactly what I'd do too. We looked a lot more of a threat when it was Fletch and Borini, both of them score goals and that's exactly what we need. I was as disappointed as anyone that Fletcher didn't put away his chances but I don't blame him for it. He's a class player who I believe is playing through an injury (Achilles?) and I think that's the only reason he's not firing on all cylinders.
I really hope Borini stays at your club, I want what's best for LFC but if he comes back he'll be wasted on our bench because of Suarez, Sturridge and Sterling, and that would be a shame for him, he clearly loves Sunderland and suits your formation and tactics. BTW even in a bad season league wise you put the north east on the map in the cups.
This is off the skysports website mate. Fabio Borini sees his future at Liverpool, ruling out any suggestion of a loan deal at Sunderland being made permanent. The Italian forward, who has struggled for form and fitness since returning to English shores in the summer of 2012, linked up with the Black Cats on a season-long agreement in September. He has found the regular first team football he craves at the Stadium of Light and has netted important goals in victories against Newcastle United, Chelsea and Manchester United. The 22-year-old admits to enjoying his time on Wearside, despite being thrust into a Premier League basement battle, but has no plans to stay long-term. Borini - who spent time in Chelsea's academy ranks and took in a loan spell at Swansea City back in 2011 - remains determined to prove his worth at Anfield, with Liverpool having splashed out £10million to secure his services from Roma. He said in the Daily Star: "I'll finish my season here and then after that I'll go back to Liverpool because that's my contract. "It would be nice to go back there as a Premier League player and to have shown them that even in a hard situation I can do well. "I've achieved one of my objectives here at Sunderland of playing every week, but to play for big teams like Liverpool, you don't just need to perform well. "As a striker you need to score goals. You can perform well, but at the end of the season people count your goals."
You just want Altidores babies and you hate Fletcher. Fletcher had a bad miss but I would give him on his return as many games as Altidore has had before I would sell him. We need a goal scorer atm we all know (apart from a select few) that Altidore is not it and we have to see if Fletcher in the next couple of games can play
Sunderpitt - You miss out that, from Parker's comment, the "certain striker" wouldn't just be getting slated for one miss but more for the numerous poor performances this season. If he'd played well all season and had 15 goals and missed one chance we would have no problem. Fletcher is a far better footballer and is recovering from a couple of bad injuries. Rusty and rush of blood - not a reason to slate or sell him. Oh - Fletcher has played 14 as a starter and 9 as sub this season - has 3 goals Altidore has 24 starts and 9 as sub and has 2... (in all competitions)
Christ sake, you're all arguing over which is the better turd. Then we have the Borini who pisses over both. Simple way to settle this, admit both are ****e, support them because they're Sunderland players and voice for the best striker to start which blatantly isn't either of them two.
http://cdn2.sbnation.com/imported_assets/2087679/ConventionalKaleidoscopicGander_medium.gif Would Altidore be afforded the same excuses for that? I don't think so.
No, but there are huge differences between the two players so it's understandable that they aren't viewed in the same way. Altidore appears to have virtually no redeeming features, one good flick on in the derby doesn't make him a good forward, whereas we have seen that a fit Fletcher will regularly score goals. Fletcher has earned the right to be let off for the occasional miss, Altidore has earned a huge wage but nothing else.
You lot are ****ing boring, same old arguments again and again. I'd be sick of repeating myself if I were you lot.
Yes but being a little bored and wanting some fun, it is very easy to bait the Altidore lovers is it not?
You all bait each other just fine and with relative ease. In the case of this thread, the 'Altidore lover' baited the haters.
http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1s0q01f A well rounded article re Altidore, worth a read regardless of what your opinion is currently.
Cheers fella, that article is quite freaky as was thinking about this a week ago. Looks like his going get Development games doesn't it.
