As i'm sure everyone is going a little stir crazy at the moment, i was wondering what the best case scenario would be for this season. If we postpone it, and play it in a few months time, how would we fair? We'd still be in a slim chance of play offs (but a chance nonetheless), plus we'd have most of our injured players back (KVY, Norwood et al) If it's cancelled completely, and re-started with the same 23 teams, would we fair any better? Again, we'd expect to have a pretty much full strength squad, plus we'd now be more clued up as to what to expect in Division 3. I don't think there are any other scenarios, but feel free to discuss if there are any other options
Hi Stretchy, nice post but tbh I think many on here have probably got other stuff to think about other than ITFC, as much as we live the passion for it! My guess to answer, is that everything will be called off now,til at least August. This season will be annulled. And Town will be fitter, wiser, with a fullish squad to live to fight another season - minus a few key players sold/left/ loaned out. For me, it is a healthy challenge, isolating with my lady as we are seniors with health issues, and trying to enjoy life: gardening, reading, playing games, walks, a bit of yoga, more walks, lots of phone chats to keep everybodies spirits up, and virtually no contact. Tough, but seems to work, and gives a daily structure to the day. We live in extraordinary times. Stay well, be safe and live healthy!
I was given the bad news on Friday 13th that my cancer has spread to all pelvic regions and nothing more they can do. Thanks to coronavirus I have to spend my final days in solitary confinement with no bloody football to keep me company
I'm lost for words, Dave, this is terrible to hear from somebody I've known on here for many years. Stay strong and positive, my thoughts are with you.
Thanks SD I would make a better fist of it if there was football to watch and an odd snifter at the pub
Love to you Dave. I hope you can take a crumb of comfort from everybody here on either side of the border being with you.
Dave, I salute you for how you have handled this all, a bucketful of grim news, but I am sure you have support in several wonderful people, who can and are allowed to visit you. And there is as you know the Helpline calls service. During this tough time, try to keep to a daily routine, some gentle exercising, out for a walk if poss, get into a park and woods if poss, perhaps try some yoga or mindfulness if thats your thing, Online courses a plenty. And of course, its time to get those books out and your favourite music. Above all, eat healthy and even tho the end may be nigh, you can look back on your life with satisfaction, all those amazing things you have done, the wonderul people you know, keep in touch with them, share what you are going thru, some will be a great support, others wont get it but to hell with that! And know that a brilliant team with be with you. Let us know how things go Dave - we are all with you, and it as if you are friend next door, tho of course rivals on the pitch, in the stands and down the pub. It is weird that none of us can do that for now. Take good care mate.
Thanks Scog, I can't walk more than a few yards now but I have a mobility scooter and got down to Argos a couple of days ago and bought a Kindle, I wish I'd bought one years ago. I got a call from my local hospice yesterday, the lady apologised for not calling in person because of the virus problem, I was a bit startled that she had called just a week after I got the news, it knocked me for six actually. I'm not in any real pain atm, hopefully that will last as long as I do! I want to thank you all for your kind words and thoughts, hopefully we'll get some football back soon.
Well, I think a big thank you to Dave for bringing this thread to a early end Not sure what to say Dave, I did volunteering at a local hospice until I moved. They offered fantastic help to the whole family, grab it with both hands. lets hope you get to see City stay up one way or another.
Hospices are brilliant, caring, the best pathway. I have visited our local several times, for my Mum, and several PCa friends. All were calm, peaceful and happy. Our thoughts are with you Dave. If ever Town play the Canaries again, we will bring you to mind, tho with our current ITFC set up, highly unlikely!
Less than a week since you started this thread Stretchy and look how much worse it’s got,the boredom hasn’t even started yet Hope everyone’s staying safe and well.
sat at home awaiting guidance from a grown up as to what we are supposed to do ( I work for a comms company) I am not frontline but customer facing 70% of the time. at least Sports Direct is staying open for all that essential keep fit stuff
Match of the day top ten captains and the Everton v Ipswich FA Cup replay were a bit of light relief, but at the time we need them most of the entertainment programmes are locked down too. If anyone saw Neville and Carragher on Retro MNF, they frankly should have stayed home.
Terrible news Dave, thoughts are with you. Hospices do a brilliant job all over the country. Hopefully we'll get some sport in the not too distant future, even if it's behind closed doors. Such strange times though, keep safe everybody.
As if we weren’t all suffering enough already they’re giving Krusty a new TV Show 8 new TV shows for life on lockdown https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-52038467 Here’s an idea Allslop, let’s see how many Lego bricks, pasta tubes (there are plenty of those lying around given all the hoarding) and old washing up bottles you can fit up your fat.........
If you go over to the Budgies site you will see the really sad news that Canary-Dave has passed away.
