I would advise that you go for less grip not more. Too much grip will damage your joints. 3G and water based pitches are not as bad. But any pitch used for hockey, will give you problems. I played hockey for years on astro and my joints are buggered, I played wearing the right sort of astro trainer, but as the matting loses the sand, the grip increases. Ankles are strained when turning and stopping.
To be honest that's just a problem that comes with playing on a hard surface, doesn't matter what shoes you wear or what sport your playing, its not good for the joints. 3G pitches are much better, but still not ideal.
I went ahead and bought some copa mundial astro trainers today. Dead comfy, comfiest pair of footwear I think I've ever owned. I'll see how I get on on a wet pitch may get some with moulded studs and all. Bit unsure about the astro trainer too as it has a rubber lip round the front of the shoe which sticks out and may affect touch or ability to get under the ball to chip it.
Mundials are made from kangaroo leather, how bizarre. Just bought my lad some, at nearly £90 a pop you'd think he'd keep them in decent nick. Oh no, he'd had them less than a week when I found them covered in mud in a plaggy bag in the garage. Ungrateful little turd.
Dunlop Green Flash. They cover everything. Years ago when running marathons first really kicked off my mate run a marathon in em.
Junior has got a pair of Greenflash as well. He'd had them about a week and you'd have thought he'd bought them off either Billy Berry or Lee Langman. You don't play football on a muddy field in pair of new Greenflash. It's ****ing sacrilege. He still wears 'em now, not when he's with me mind. I wouldn't be seen dead with him if he's in those tatty bastards.
