Its crazy out there , Madrid are apparently preparing a 35 million£ bid for Sterling and are ready to pay him 120 thousand £ a week .For me , as long as we can get players like Barrow out of the 2nd division in Sweden or Emnes from Middlesboro for around 2 million its hard not to consider selling players like Bony or Gomis for mega money. That Emnes to Barrow to Carroll goal was superb.By the way , we must get a bid in this window to steal him. Emnes was my MOTM yesterday , what a fuking steal when we got him

But it sure is hard replacing that quality, and expensive also.

Can't we hold Bony to his contract at least until the Summer? We don't need the money do we? As well as our team did yesterday I can't see Bony's goals being replaced and that could make the difference between being staying where we are now and relegation (OK that's not likely but still).

Monk should say not for sale until August imo. Does anyone else agree?

A club our size must sell when the selling is good .When Martinez put a 4 million £ bid for Bodde way back when , I wanted to sell. After Michu's great first season , I wanted to sell him . With all the top clubs falling all over each other to get to Bony , I want
to sell .when it comes to selling players , its timing , timing , timing imo

Bony is my favourite player at the moment, I just think the guy is a class act, albeit with his odd touch and odd poor game. But if Chelsea came in with £30+, then I would have to say yes. Not just for us, but for Bony too. The guy will only get better, and we are always going to hold him back when we cannot cross worth a damn (Montero the exception), and that is probably his best asset. I think he would be great for a team like Chelsea who a) can cross, and b) have such an attacking threat that Bony's hold up play would actually amount to something other than needed to pass it backwards because our wingers or midfielders don't do enough to offer passes up the field.

I have read Chelsea want him at the end of the season in a player plus cash deal to the value of 30m. The player being Loic Remy not sure what Chelsea are valuing him at in the deal. Most interesting for me is they want to do it at the end of the season.

I think I've read that Drogba is going to retire at the end of the season and take up a coaching role at the club. Bony is very similar to Drogba, but would Bony be happy sitting on the bench and playing second fiddle to Costa (unless Costa is going to be sold, which is very unlikely).
As for Remy, didn't he fail a medical at Liverpool because of 'heart related issues'?.

Wasn't worried about Bony leaving at all until Chelsea showed an interest.

Imo Chelsea is the only club Bony would go to because of the a strong bond which exists between Bony and his friend, mentor and Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.

£30m plus player for a deal to go through at end of this season may just be too much for our board to resist. The deal would be very dependant on who the player is fr the board to approve it I imagine.

I doubt we'd take Remy if he is part of the deal. He allegedly has a poor, unprofessional attitude; footyspeak for Lazy, and chippy. Probably why Liverpool pulled out of the deal at the last minute, they're not stupid and I don't buy the 'knee injury' excuse. Maybe its why Chelsea want rid of him now too. Also, I doubt we'd concede to his exorbitant wage demands either.

Personally I'd take that Costa bloke instead of Remy.

It's a question of balancing money versus the detrimental effect Bony's departure will have mid season. Whatever happens I'd like to keep Bony until August as that effect can be managed easier in the Summer. Just my opinion but he isn't going to deteriorate between now and then and even if he does it's not going to affect his value greatly is it? Although I do realise you can up the price a bit in January. We only paid £12M for him so we'd still be ahead of the game. Besides, I always think that it's better to have your best players on the pitch rather than having squillions in the bank. Old fashioned girl I am :)

I know some people don't agree but I don't believe in selling at all unless it's an offer we just can't refuse. The Chelsea deal, going in August plus player sounds good. If Remy has attitude I can live with that provided he bangs in the goals. Our senior pros will soon bring him down a peg or two and there's a French connection here with Gomis too. Remy is class imo and would fit with us perfectly. Hubby agrees - he just told me <diva>

Can I ask where you got that from. have had a search and can't find anything about attitude, did find his alledgedly failed medical at Liverpool. I think he is a top striker and as long as we can be sure of his fitness think he would be a very very good signing.

Seems to be Dgroba inspired paper talk ATM
Good move for Bony (although I think he's too grounded as a person for Chelsea) and good deal for us but I wouldn't want any Chelsea cast off players as part of the deal - they all seem to be Hello Magazine fodder and 'too important' for a team like ours anyway.

A number of articles in the week said his new contract had removed the buy out clause that was in his original contract. They made a point of saying it was a 'shrewd' move by the club and it meant more power to the club over offers.
I just read it - not sure how it works though.

Read an article from ""The Transfer Tavern"" Saying Man City wont pay over 25 Million for Bony which is 4 Million more that the buyout clause in his NEW contract .Cant vouch for how true it is but that would put it at 21 million.

There is no buy out clause. It was taken out when he signed a new contract.

Maybe it was taken out ...and a new one installed lefty. Just a one off article I read so your probably right .But at the same time , I cant imagine him signing a new contract without one .Since he signed a new contract, I dont remember reading anything about whether there was a buyout or not in his new contract

Why wouldn't he sign a new contract without a buy out clause ? I thought they were for the benefit of the Club
