Ex-Bolton Wanderers and Greece star Stelios Giannakopoulos forms bid for Bolton Wanderers takeover... http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/spor...tar_Stelios_forms_bid_for_Wanderers_takeover/
I don't think owners or chief executives say: "I've got an idea, lets run up debts of £170m". They spend a little and then think they need a little more. They then try to recoup their losses by spending a little more. It's like gambling."
Bolton's players haven't been paid this month due to a 'short term funding issue'. Doesn't sound good.
Club statement Bolton Wanderers Football Club can today, Monday 30 November, confirm that the first team playing squad are yet to receive their wages for the month of November. This is due to the ongoing situation surrounding the club's ownership off the field. Trevor Birch, recently appointed as adviser to the Bolton Wanderers board and owner, said: "This is due to a short-term funding issue. We are working hard behind the scenes and hope to have this resolved in a quick and timely manner and I will be meeting the players tomorrow to update them." http://www.bwfc.co.uk/news/article/club-statement-2828518.aspx#gKJfecoRPqFiqdXb.99
Bolton come to the KC Saturday week. How much interest will they have for the game especially if they are owed wages ? Sad but Bolton have been badly run for a while now.
A very clear sign that Eddie Davies has said no more, the trough is empty! Hope Birch gets it sorted and Bolton can establish a foundation to move forward from. I can't imagine many players remain on unsustainable wages
Watching the Bolton v Brentford game last night the players have yet to down tools. However Lennon said after the game that a full player meeting along with the PFA is taking place today.
It would seem that Oldham's players have been paid for last month either and have been paid late every month for the past three. Must be a Lancashire thing...
The middle size clubs like Bolton, Burnley, Oldham etc must really struggle, these are old established clubs who'd like to ''rise again'' - with the Manchester and Liverpool clubs on their doorstep attracting media driven new fans is really difficult for them. The smaller clubs, Accrington, Rochdale, Stockport etc do well to even survive in the FL.
Whilst you feel for the Bolton fans you really do have to wonder what will happen with the club. Saturday will show us just where the players are with the situation. O/T Man Utd could well face a long period of time away from winning trophies. SAF is right to say that Liverpool with Klopp worry him. Man Utd fans have had it far far too good for too long. Time for change at the top.
Just looking at a Bolton forum and the match thread is titled To Hull In A Handcart and predictions vary from them losing 2-0 to 4-0. I hate being major favourites.
More than 300 staff at Bolton Wanderers given 'no guarantees' they will be paid at Christmas... http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/spor...o_guarantees__they_will_be_paid_at_Christmas/
If Bolton pay the November wages then the tax bill goes up. Desperate situation for sure @ Bolton. I am sure most of the players wont be finding it that hard this Christmas even with wages owed.
Not sure if this has already been posted !!!! Great news anyway!!!! Skipper Michael Dawson ready to make Hull City return against Bolton Wanderers By Hull Daily Mail | Posted: December 09, 2015 please log in to view this image Comments (3) MICHAEL Dawson is ready to hand Hull City a timely boost by making his return to action at home to Championship strugglers Bolton Wanderers on Saturday. Dawson has been on the sidelines since suffering a hamstring injury in the Tigers' 1-1 draw with Bristol City on November 21 and the central defender's absence has been sharply felt during a run of three consecutive defeats. The 32-year-old had been expected to miss up to four weeks but a return to full training yesterday has now put him firmly on course for a recall against Bolton. Indeed great news. Plenty of time to run this season, but for me he'll win Player of the Season if he maintains his great form. Also in another c3 years when he maybe hangs his boots up, a Manager in the making?
Great news & Hopefully he's fit to go And not being rushed back? we deffo don't want to lose him again!
Hmm. Hope this isn't us rushing a key player back in an effort to arrest a bad turn of form. Wouldn't want us to start doing that, it's a bad habit apparently...
BREAKING: Wanderers receive winding up petition over unpaid tax bill STRUGGLING Wanderers have received a devastating blow in the form of a winding up petition from HMRC. The club has confirmed it has received the petition, which has been issued because of an unpaid tax bill of around £600,000 and further raises the prospect of Whites choosing to go into voluntary administration and accepting a 12 point deduction. The club is now seeking short-term funding options in order to pay the bill, which include the potential sale or lease of the Whites hotel and office buildings at the Macron, where more than 300 staff are still unsure whether or not they will be paid before Christmas. The petition will now be advertised publicly in the next few days — and The Bolton Newsunderstands a High Court hearing has been scheduled for January 18. Talks have continued between the club and potential buyers, aimed at resolving the issue, but concerns remain about the validity and structure of the tabled bids. http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news...ive_winding_up_petition_over_unpaid_tax_bill/
Update from Bolton Wanderers regarding the club's current HMRC situation... Bolton Wanderers can confirm that the club has now received a winding up petition from HMRC in respect of unpaid PAYE and VAT for the month of November. Despite requests from the club to HMRC to give it further time to either conclude a sale or raise additional funds, HMRC has proceeded with due process and duly served a petition. Trevor Birch, advisor to the board and owner at Bolton Wanderers, said: “Quite clearly the club remains in a critical financial position. We will continue to try and finalise a sale or alternatively raise some short term funds needed to give the club a breathing space and time in which to consider its options.” Read more at http://www.bwfc.co.uk/news/article/club-statement-2845297.aspx#dHoeoSvkwcH24APE.99
