So how is this Johnson's fault? He can tell them to toughen up, he can send them to the gym, he can shout at them until they cry, but its the player that shirks the challenge, the player that doesn't impose himself. Johnson can't do that for him.
Wouldn't disagree but we've got 4 or 5 wingers in the squad now and that formation doesn't utilise them in the right way. You could argue that Gooch play as a RWB but are you getting the best out of Clarke, Dajaku and McGeady in that formation? Roberts looks like he could play as a 10 (albeit based on a few mins yesterday)
Djaku could play wing back or as one of the attacking midfielders, Clarke as the other am? I don't know enough about him to be honest. McGeady is a tricky one as with that set up the 2 attacking midfielders need to really work to support Stewart and support the opposition. For me I'd be tempted with ........... Hoff ... Wright..... Baath.... Doyle Hume.............. Evans.......... Cirkin .......................Neil ....... Djaku............... Pritchard ................ Stewart Could easily be Embleton or Roberts for Djaku, Djaku for Hume. Leaves a bench of Clarke, Winchester, Flanagan, then the other option to the ones above
So, if we could draft Norman Hunter or Vinny Jones in their heyday into this side, they'd start ducking out of challenges? Or, to use your analogy, if Johnson replaced Mark McCall at Saracens, Mako and Billy would stop making the big tackles and putting their bodies on the line?
but then its his fault for playing them cos if they go on like that don't play them and get rid in next window simples

It has to be detrimental, there is no doubting his effort and willingness to play but you can't prepare for a game when you could be moved into 3 or 4 different positions during a match. Madness.
We have one of the best squads in the league, if not the best when all fit. The best striker in the league, the best young midfielder in the league and probably the best young centre half in the league. We have needed a tough no-nonsense midfielder for a while now but I stand by my belief that a decent manager who has any type of plan b would have us top of the league now. Sure we have had injuries but we definitely still have enough to beat Bolton. The players were shocking but the managers tactics, team selection, substitutions and lack of vision (or sheer arrogance) to change things early on are unforgivable. It wasn't just a bad day at the office and he certainly had players good enough to win yesterday.
Well I’m trying now to get over this horrendous result We are off this afternoon to spend the first night in a hotel tomorrow it’s my 70th birthday We are going on a canaries cruise my wife has bought me a balcony cabin as a gift We will have limited internet and will post when I can
He clearly did make mistakes yesterday. But if the problem is that we're losing because we have players who aren't good at the physical side (and I'm not saying that is the reason) he can't magic that out of thin air. If we're losing like that, there's clearly a problem with the players, not just the manager.
Best thing you can do... its not looking good atm.. get away from it. Unfortunately the Internet may be available
All the best mate enjoy your birthday. Switch off enjoy yourself and get away from it all. This ****e will still be here when you get back.
We should be arrogant, we are a giant in this league, a giant reduced to this level through mismanagement and poor decisions but a giant all the same. Arrogance is a useful trait it separates you from the also rans or actually (in this league) the never rans. We dropped out of the premier league after a 10 or 11 year run and disappeared up our own arses because of those in charge. That doesn’t make us a league one club though we ply our trade there because of the decisions of those who had decided they were not going to try anymore. The fans always tried, we always turned up paid our money and tried to support. To support through a lot of this was difficult but on the whole we did just that. The new owners came in and were instantly out of their depth, they instantly made all of the decisions to strip the club back to its bare bones and instantly made the decisions to remove any “quality” to replace it with league one players. They should never have been in a position to buy the club in the first place and for that reason I will never forgive Short. He put this club in the toilet then he sold it to a ****house who paid with our own money. The jury is out on KLD in my opinion but the early signs are generally positive, the standard of players coming in seems to have improved but we need to blend it with level above experienced players. Considering our history and the size of the club I find it hard not be be arrogant to some extent when we are being made to look ****e by teams around us who see us as a cup final game week in week out. Clubs that would see their highest gate of the season against us because the away following is as large as their boosted home crowd because they have come for that cup final game against us. If we lose our “arrogance” we lose the club to the lower leagues permanently I fear.
When he blamed the players (and they deserved blaming - 50% to blame at least) he said he had chosen the wrong players. Did he mean wrong players for that game or the wrong players to sign?
