I was in the lower west that day , think we were playing Preston . You have a sick feeling in your tummy for quiet a while afterwards . Was in the well for the George Lyall leg break and cannot recall hearing the noise of the crack though , did that injury end his career .
Happened to me. Was at edge of the opposition penalty area - 50/50 ball - goalie who is still a big mate heard it from 80 yards away said it was like a nearby gun. Then you lie on the grass watching your leg at right angles with blood pumping out with each heart beat. Then you go cold and feel f@ck all when you see the bone. Then the ambulance comes on to the pitch and you go to hospital (in Liverpool where we was studientos amigo) and that night Jim beglin did the same at anfield. And I recovered but bust it again 11 months later - pissed in Driffield. This has got nothing to do with this thread has it? Sorry but agh....nostalgia
Yes cheers. I have some aches after a run. I can do about five miles and the next day get twinges in a pin that they used to stick my ankle together after the second break the following year but that is all. Lucky really because Joe public got no proper rebuild in the NHS unlike footballers now. There is still a massive stumpy lump where the bone knitted. I got knocked off a pushbike under a lorry years later and a woman saw me on the road with this swelling and was white as a sheet thinking it was snapped. I stood up and she almost fainted thinking of the pain - I just said don't worry poppet these things happen, got my bike from under the lorry and sued him. Agh....nostalgia.
A well known poster on here spoke to George Lyall during his rehabilitation after the leg break, he reckoned George was adamant that the attempted block that broke his leg was accidenta, he also stated that he and big Sam had were good mates.
Nothing. Anyone could buy it for a £1 debt free but will incur at least £15m losses until the end of the season. And probably a similar amount next season. And the next. And the Next.
Some right sick so and so's on here. That George Lyall one was a shocker but at least he went out scoring a good goal.
